To be frank, 8-ball rack is nice-looking, but 9/10-ball rack came w two creases in it, and most of the holes were punched with a flawed or damaged cutting die, an they needed a half hr of work to clean and de-burr them. Otherwise, they play well. There is no time saved racking, as more time is needed to properly set balls, but its all less than a 30 second difference in reality.

These racks work very well the balls set quickly and the break response is excellent showing that the balls are all touching each other. One small complaint is that the instructions that come with the racks tells you to peal off the protective plastic. I worked on doing just that for almost 5 minutes before giving up. In the process of trying to separate the parts (I am still not sure that they even come apart) I slightly messed up the edge of the 9 ball rack. Rather than totally destroy it I decided to use it as it was. In my opinion there is no reason to try to separate anything simply put it on the table and put the balls on it. The plastic is so thin that unless the ball is barely creeping along and only going to roll an inch or less it does not affect the rolling ball. Even if the ball is creeping I saw no influence on the roll after closely watching dozens of racks as my opponents broke.

just wow these are outstanding! Keeps the rack super-tight with no need to check for slug-racks and intentional gaps. It does take a few tries to get quick with it but there’s no fiddling or tapping balls down to keep them frozen. The instructions are still reading that you need to ”remove the film” but there is none to remove so do not attempt this! Be prepared for far more action off the break and much more consistent results.

The 9 Ball rack is really a great item. You get a true rack every time yes it is easy to pocket a wing ball but that is the nature of the 9 ball rack. I use this at home to practice by myself and it makes it more enjoyable because you get a good spread after the break and it helps you develop your runout skills. Another good thing is if your cloth is worn in around the racking area this solves the trouble of not being able to get the balls to be frozen to one another. The 10 ball rack is also nice for the reasons stated above. You can’t beat this purchase for the cost you will like it.

Truthfully, i wanted to leave a review for this rack as well. This is a terrific way to get your 8 ball rack to be spot on everytime. No more struggling to get all the balls frozen. The one thing that is really good I want to mention is if your cloth is worn in around the racking area you will always have trouble getting the front 3 balls to freeze. I always had trouble with the 1 ball moving or getting stuck to the racks the magic rack has solved that trouble. For the price you can’t beat this rack.

My Rack of choice but one note…
I played in a 10-ball league for 3 years that used this rack exclusively. Works amazing well. You can get the front ball Precisely on the spot you can get the rack virtually exactly parallel to the foot of the table and the balls rack tight tight tight…UNLESS you have a set of cheap or mis-matched balls (which lots of pool halls do). When all the balls are not the same size an under-sized ball will not rack tight. This is the fault of the ball (not the rack) being too small so it just does not fit right. You only discover this using the Magic Rack because it is so precise and not subject to table irregularities. Why should you care about a tight rack? The balls break easier have better action and spread more consistently with less effort giving you a better chance at a run-out. FYI: The set includes 2 racks. the triangle is for full racks like 8-ball 14.1 etc. The other performs for both 9-ball and 10-ball. Too bad you cannot get just one or the other.

I thought it was me all along
I just picked up on of these templates and on the first rack 2 balls dropped. I thought superb maybe it is working. I ended up playing 8 games and out of 7 at least one ball dropped if not multiple with a good spread. This is coming from someone who used a wooden triangle for awhile and rarely would I get a ball to drop. I was never really a firm believer that little things like this could improve your game as a player but honestly I am blown away with this purchase. For awhile I thought I was a horrible breaker but in reality I could never get a tight rack which was causing me to get unfavorable spreads and make balls. I don’t care what anyone says about the magic rack after the break its been keeping me at the table and that’s all that matters.

I’ve used both racks. Overall they’re both terrific. I had some difficulty at first racking, probably because of the table size (stretching over the center etc.) But as I continued using it became easier. Each and every time all balls touched, and 9 out of 10 times the 8 or 9 ball stayed put. Shooting over the rack didn’t alter the path of the pool cue ball either.

Removing Film?
From my perspective, this is a excellent product to use. The racks forces all the balls to touch each other to make a tight rack. However I’m giving this 4/5 stars because supposedly when you receive the magic racks you are to remove a plastic film off the racks. I did not see any instruction on removing anything but I went to forums and players say that you do indeed need to. I still have not removed the films because 1) there’s really no need to 2) it’s too damn hard to remove them; there’s no tab or anything to pull the film off Next time there should be clear indication on what to do in the instructions instead of stating the obvious

In my experience, i find that these racks work great most of the time, but even though I tighten the balls up together, I still get the odd ‘gap rack’ break. This tool is much better than the triangle that the table came with.

This functions so much better to achieve a tight rack then the traditional hard triangle rack ;<0) Now I can break and have a ball or two go into a pocket. The worst thing was I started hanging the rack on the wall using a nail and ruined it ;<(

I must admit, template racks are here and it is a better rack than the triangle. saves on cloth wear, robust performance. stop saying its a fad its been around for 10+ yrs already. get this or the accu rack (which can be folded easily). Carry a template rack, use a template, its worth the money

Magic rack works well but the eight ball rack leaves one of the balls not touching the eight ball. Even when I try to manipulate it, the ball will still not go into position. Other than that, the nine ball rack works perfect.

“Excellent”!! Balls are much easier to rack and stay in place until the break. The rack seems to be tighter than using a bridge resulting in a much better break. Our club has 4 tables, so we bought a set for each. I would recommend this purchase to get the best and tightest rack possible.

From my perspective, yes, the Magic Rack makes tight racks every time. It took the guys a few tries to load it up because they were used to man-handling regular racks, but they soon got it. We all appreciate the lack of “dud” breaks we are getting now. I seldom see the rack influence the path of any balls that pass over it during play. I once saw a ball settle a tiny bit into a hole but you couldn’t do that again if you tried.
