Great Pool cue for the Price

I had never used a break pool cue before (other than a bar cue)I was happy and surprised at the difference a decent break pool cue makes. It hits hard without allot of extra effort. Every one on my team uses it now for breaking and everyone can see and feel the difference. Its also a jump cue (again something I have never used)and of course jumping a ball is not quite as simple as breaking but with a little practice can be done. All in all a great cue stick for the price operates well and appears amazing too.

Best jump / break for the price

My friend has an Elite j/b that hits exceptionally effectively. When we discussed the weight I found out that Elite are made by Action and the stick parts are all interchangeable so I ordered the aforementioned cue. It is absolutely amazing. Get the 21 oz, your breaks will be effortless. The one piece ferrul and tip are amazing too, never worry about mushrooming and replacement of tips, should last forever. As for the look of the stick it is very nicely finished and the woods chosen are gorgeous. I would give this 10 of 10 stars if that were the option. I currently own 4 jump / breaks – 2 are custom cues – and I use the Action because it works so much better. Pick up this cue stick if you want to own the most cost-effective ball crusher on the market.

Lots of BANG for the buck

This is a properly priced break/jump cue and it replaced another Action break cue that was stolen from my car. It’s also a wonderful tool and it’s attractive too. It takes a while to get used to the extremely hard tip but once you are dialed in you can send rockets to the rack!!!! Chalk it properly and fire. You won’t be disappointed

Release the Crack-in’!

I’m quite content with this jump break cue. Nice and tight connections between all three parts. My breaks have improved dramatically and I love how solid the cue feels on the stroke. The phenolic tip is nice and hard works great. I was surprised how good the wood seems on the stick truly pretty. Couldn’t be happier would recommend to anyone. Husband LOVED it

I know absolutely nothing about pool or playing pool so this was a huge step for me…hubby had been talking about a “break cue for months because he had to always borrow one of his team members stick. (He’s on a pool league) I decided to surprise him on his his birthday with his very own break stick. I talked to several members of his team and they informed me about weight etc. so taking into account what they had said, I ordered the 21 oz. for him It came a week before his birthday and it just so happened that was the weekend for his Tri-cups, so I asked him if he would like his birthday present early. At first he said no, as he is a former cancer patient, is recovering from surgery and was just having a “down” day, The next day he asked if he could have his present early afterall. I gave it to him and he was thrilled to death!!!! He was so happy and it really lifted his spirits. thank you for helping me pull this off with a great gift for hubby and at a price I could afford!!

I must admit, i’ve been shooting pool for years now but I’ve always struggled with the break (probably because I had to always rely on stupid house cues for breaks). Whenever possible I used to elect for my opponent to break because I was so insecure about my own breaking ability. A little over a month ago I bought the Action ACTBJZ just as an experiment to see if anything changes. To be honest I wasn’t really expecting much seeing as the ACTBJZ is one of the cheapest break cues you can find. At first I was having a bit of difficulty adjusting to the stick because the feel of a phenolic tip is just so different compared to a leather tip (and the absence of a wrap on the butt also adds to the difficulty). But once I got used to the feel my breaks improved like you wouldn’t believe. As any professional player would tell you the break is the most important shot in a game of 8-ball or 9-ball. So in combination with my new Fury RP-6 playing cue I have been breaking and running racks all over the place. I still need to figure out the jump shot but I think it is safe to conclude that the Action ACTBJZ has added a whole new dimension to my game. Highly recommended.

Big Bang for Little Bucks

I’ll start off by saying I give this jump/break a 4 out of 5 only because I’m extremely picky about everything. I picked up this pool cue two years ago because I couldn’t get enough power from a leather tipped break cue stick and I wanted a jump cue stick. This fit the bill perfectly. Whatever phenolic is used for the tip must have come from superman’s planet because it won’t chip/crack/break. In the two years past I’ve had custom stick makers’ phenolic one piece tips splinter and crack before the action tip would. Action must use some super formula for their tip. Anyways the shaft and butt construction are properly built and for sure solid. My one little complaint and reason why I gave it a 4 is that the finish used on the shaft was quite ‘sticky’ in a sense similar to what’s used on a fiberglass/composite shaft. It’s hard to explain but I don’t think sanding it helped. It’s a good deal a try for how cheap it is. You could go out and buy one of the other J/B’s advertised in the same price point range ( I’ve used them ) but I can attest that this pool cue was built with quality in mind.

My Action Jump/Break cue stick

Been using my Action break pool cue for about four years now.(and recently ordered a spare shaft for it from Pooldawg)…My break cue stick is the one that comes made with the zebrawood butt and it is quite stunning,the hard rock maple shaft has a one piece phenolic ferule and tip so no worries about launching your tip or mushrooming. Pooldawg sent my shaft right out very protectively packaged and I received it within a week.The folks at Pooldawg are the best! –professional accurate and friendly.If you need a new break pool cue get the Action (from Pooldawg) –you’ll really like it and your breaking will surely improve!

Pooldawg Saves Christmas!

The pool cue ordered was a gift and it got delivered to the wrong address by UPS and UPS said it would 8 days until they could locate it. This was a UPS mistake but when I contacted Pooldawg, they would have none of that and sent out another pool cue by 2 day air and said they would handle the claim with UPS. decent pool cue

I really wanted to try a phenolic tip when I bought this cue. I wasn’t disappointed with the pocket. I can crush the balls on a break. I need to make sure you stay close to center ball strike with a phenolic tip and chalk the cue because its like hitting the cue ball with a rock. Its easy to misscue otherwise. Its funny to watch other people try to use it to break after they see me use it because you have to practice with the cue a bit before bringing it to leagues to break. The cue jumps balls awesome. Where I could jump partial balls with my regular cue I can pop over full balls six to eight inches away no trouble fairly consistently. This pool cue made learning to jump balls fun and easy. Sadly it warped on me a bit within the first year. I didn’t store it perfectly but I did have it in my cue case with my playing cue and my viking is fine. So store it well. The phenolic tip isn’t just glued on its binded on with some wrap material to the ferrule. So getting your tip to stay on the cue wont be a problem and it has a shiny pattern graphics to it. I only say this because I have tried to glue a phenolic tip onto a stick before and several different glues wouldn’t get the tip to stay on a cue. Worth saving yourself the time and effort to get a ready to go phenolic tipped cue stick than try to put one on yourself.

Received cue a week before thought with tip upgrade. Cue was very solid quality. A custom cue stick manufacturer inspected it for me and the shaft was arrow straight with a great finish on it. Ordered with the Samsara tip. Very hard hitting and still able to apply small amount of English. Jumping with this stick is extremely straightforward. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a jump/break combo.

Works as advertised

It’s been a while since I had my own break stick and the spread is definitely better with more balls going in off the break and pretty decentability to park the cue ball if effectively chalked. As far as jumping I’m able to do it with the cue although not consistently well but I would say I’m definitely an intermediate player so that’s likely the shooter and not the tools.

Really like this cue, bought

Really like this cue, bought it for a break pool cue and it does great. The same effort as a regular break shot seems to produce twice the break energy. Chalk it for every break shot and don’t over power it. I use a less expensive Aramith pool cue ball to break with but I have not experienced any ball damage. Properly valued at the cost.

I have to say, got the Action break cue and I Really like IT! My son tried it and he loved it. I like the quick release joint and the ability to change the weight. this pool cue has a huge bolt weight that really moves the cue stick ball. Also, it really looks fine with the Zebra Wood but stock. For 130 bucks, it’s just outstanding. I’m not trying to get the most expensive high tech break cue, I just want to whack the balls and jump with something consistent. Good value for the money – great customer service

Through a series of stupid mistakes, I damaged the shaft on my break cue. While shopping for a replacement shaft, I couldn’t find one that I could be sure would be a replacement. So, I reached out to the staff of PoolDawg through email at [email protected]. I got a really helpful reply in just a few hours and based on Trent’s recommendation, I bought this cue. I like the workmanship, but it IS made in China, so if you don’t like the Chinese, be advised. The wood grain is pretty, but not stunning. The joints fit snugly and the tip is a one-piece tip/ferule. As for performance, it takes the punishment someone my size (6’1″, 230lbs) is likely to inflict on a break cue stick. Because of my limited ability to perform jump shots and masse shots (I can’t do either one reliably) I can’t comment on that. Oh, yeah, and the ability to have the cue personalized with your name or motto is a fun perk. My other advice is, when shopping PoolDawg, if you’re not sure of what you’re buying, don’t buy it. Reach out to the staff and they’ll be glad to help you.
