Perfect in-between from a snooker cue to a US Pool cue nice pool cue

I have played with a beloved snooker cue for several decades, but decided to get something closer to a “typical US pool cue” but the comparatively huge tips and shaft diameter seemed so clunky to me. Until I heard of this brand, Athena. I know they’re decent and other women like them, so they intrigued me. I loath the girly pink, hearts, butterflies et al. But, once I saw the beautiful and slightly tacky leopard, I was sold! I Do adore this pool cue! Other things I love is the extended butt, who doesn’t appreciate more of that!?! It’s great to screw it on and reach a wee bit versus missing a shot or worse, getting a bridge out. 😆 I bet it feels like what being able to reach for anything on a table is always like to taller fellas. I love the satin finish and feel of this shaft (feels akin to a snooker pro taper shaft) The personalization etched in is sweet. They omitted a hyphen but, I’ll live. I’d give it 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ because I now have to switch and or reshape the brand new tip I just had put on which is a bummer. (I didn’t get the one they replaced that came with the cue) Definitely needs to be redone as low English is truly necessary unless playing scratchball. I may have erred as I changed its tip to a medium Kauai which run hard (I’m used to a hard snooker tip) but, may have been a mistake as I seem to have lost any ability to draw. The English is really reactive left & right but for a low draw shot, I can’t seem to find its sweet spot. I switched back n forth between the new cue and old ones and I had no issues hitting low English with any US cues between 18-21oz and my old snooker cue. I tried 13 cues total and it only happens with my new one. Maybe I need to re-reshape this new tip myself? But, otherwise, I’m extremely satisfied. 4 stars, if I wasn’t out money for 2 new tips and didn’t have to redo it on a New stick and have the engraving issue, it would easily be 5 stars but — I don’t believe this is the fault of the cue stick or Athena. It’s likely an issue with a oddly shaped replaced tip. 5 stars for the cue, 3.75 rounded up for pooldawg on this one. First time I’ve had any issues.

Perfect middle-ground between a snooker stick to a US Pool cue

ideal in-between between a snooker cue stick to a US Pool pool cue. It’s a lovely cue! I have played with a beloved snooker stick for several decades, but decided to get something closer to a “typical US pool cue” but the comparatively huge tips and thicker shaft diameter/taper seemed so clunky to me. Until I heard of this brand, Athena! I know they’re decent and other women like them, so they intrigued me. I loathe when womens’ things are made with; girly pink, hearts, butterflies, et al. Once I saw the beautiful and slightly tacky leopard 🐆 , I was sold! I Do am impressed by this cue! Other things I really like is the extended butt, who doesn’t love more of that!?! It’s outstanding to screw it on and reach a wee bit versus missing a shot or worse, getting a bridge out. 😆 I bet it feels like what being able to reach for anything on a table is always like taller fellas do. I really like the satin finish and feel of this shaft (feels akin to a snooker pro-taper shaft) The personalization etched in is sweet. They omitted one hyphen but, I’ll live. Initially I’d given it 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ because I added a medium kamui tip that needed to be reshaped by me. (I didn’t get the one that came with the cue so I don’t know how it plays as it never came to me) Tip wouldn’t draw low English despite playing for decades. It wasn’t me bc I had no trouble picking up any of my other 13 cues. Once I (Im a novice at cue reshaping) once I reshaped the new tip (which runs hard) low English draw shot is back. English is very necessary unless playing scratchball. This won’t happen unless you change the tip and they have an off day. It’s fine now. Its sweet spots are where they ought to be. It’s not as reactive as my snooker cues but less so than the other US style broad topped cues we have, of course as it’s thinner. So now, I’m very happy. 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ it’s very pretty and has become my snappy new main player. I don’t break with it however, I use different break cues. Another — 5 stars for pooldawg too as Steve was my hero and kind enough to reply to a truly long email and help answer my questions regarding the tip issue which was a fluke and now the fault of Athena nor pooldawg. First time I’ve had any issues, and they were easily fixed with honour and charm, wisdom and kindness from them immediately! Well-built!

    Best first stick purchase!

From my perspective, i finally took the plunge to order my 1st stick. I love the design and feel. I’m still getting use to it. My husband who is a seasoned player has shot with it on our table at home and says it is a quality stick. Quite delighted with my purchase.
