Cuetec Cynergy 11.8
I’ve tried several of the CF shafts, they all take a little getting used to when making the switch from LD wood shafts. I had become used to playing with the skinny shafts that are typically under 12mm. The 11.8 is an outstanding shaft and the size is making the switch so much more of a see less transition. If you’re looking for an option to the skinny shafts under 12.0, give this one a try Very pleased.

So I had a slight problem with a shaft I had purchased for my Mc Dermmot cue. Contacted Pool Dawg (Drew) and discussed a carbon fiber shaft option instead of replacing the current shaft. I could not have made a better choice for my Mc Dermmot. As soon as it was delivered and opened up the signature packing that this shaft is delivered in. I could not wait to use it. Needless to say after my first rack of 9 ball I knew I made the right choice. Drew I cant thank you enough for all your help and knowledge in this upgrade. If you are considering a Carbon Fiber upgrade for your cue I have two words for you DO IT!! Unbelievable. I like the pocket and
I like the hit and feel of the Cynergy 11.8 shaft. It’s low deflection and feels more like wood than the revo. There is also no tink sounds like the revo when the tip strikes the pool cue. The deflection is almost as low as my 11.5 shaft but the slightly larger tip seems to allow me to have less miscues and the longer draws from rail shots are easier. All in all, I’m impressed and this will be my shaft going forward.

Just received my order, the 11.8mm with a Kamui Black Medium. Had a chance to shoot with it tonight…….the hype is real, folks. I was absolutely blown away at just how smooth this shaft is. Only issues I’ve had are it’s a extremely tight fit screwing on my McDermott, for some reason, and also the energy transfer I swear is like hitting twice as hard, so it’s gonna take me some time to readjust speed and feel. But man oh man, it hits so silky. It makes draw and follow shots absolutely effortless, if not outright too effortless (the learning curve, again, for control). Plan on using darn near half the backswing and follow through that you’re used to- the energy transfer is that much stronger. One other note- I didn’t even think to tell PoolDawg the radius I wanted on the Kamui tip, which is a dime……they must have mind readers there, because it was a just right dime radius straight outta the box, and already properly scuffed, burnished, and picked. Just chalked her up, and got to shooting. Such excellent service. Thanks PoolDawg

Truthfully, have only used it once. Seems real nice. Replaced the 12.5mm shaft with this 11.8mm but the this shaft doesn’t mate up well with the Cuetec handle. There is a step down as the bottom shaft is narrower then the top part at the connection.

Solid hitting shaft
From my perspective, of the carbon shafts I have tried (REVO, Meucci, couple customs), this one had the most similar strike to wood and a bit lower “tink” noise when shooting. I ultimately decided to go back to wood shafts but I wouldn’t hesitate to go this direction if you are looking for a carbon shaft.

I bought 4 of them. Was’nt getting anymore carbon or kamui tips. But tried a glove and saw Ghorst using kamui medium and Shane using 11.8 and got one for the summer . And the price point is right with performance. It’s hard to get great wood shafts and beat the stability of carbon. I’m switching to carbon and this is the only shaft i’m interested in . Wood is too flimsy for me now. I’m was always worried about dings in my good shafts. cynergy 11.8 is perfectly tapered and no worries about dings. Or warping. Or slickness if using a good glove. Cuetec should keep this 11.8mm around forever.

Deducted 1 star due to receiving the one that has the chrome ring at the joint. The item pictured does not have this chrome ring. My pool cue butt has a black collar so I wanted the one pictured and spent additional time searching for a company that had it for my application. In the end, I got the same one that can be found more easily. Doesn’t affect the play, just the aesthetic but still seems nice.

Lovin it. I put a kamui black soft tip on it. I was using a predator z3 shaft prior to this and having issues with deflection. This cuetec shaft hits well-built with little deflection issues. Having better control of the cue ball with the strike and sound of a wood cue. Quite happy with this purchase. Pricey but, for me, worth it. Highly recommended.

This is by far the
This is by far the best Cuetec shaft to date. It doesn’t sound anything like the older legacy fiberglass shafts of the past. It produces a really solid thud when you pocket the ball. It’s also a low defection shaft which is also a big plus. The Tiger Sniper tip is described as medium tip but I would say it borderlines a soft tip. The 11.8 tip makes it easier to put spin on the balls than the 12.5 shafts that I own but you need to be good at aiming properly because with the smaller tip it’s easier to put unintended spin on the ball. Another huge advantage is that is cheaper than a lot of the other big name brand carbon fiber shafts in the market. The only negative if you even want to consider it a negative is that I still require a pool glove when I use this shaft. My hands just get too sweaty when I play and even though the shaft is very slick, I still need to use a glove. One really important thing to note is that this shaft is heavier than the old Cuetec fiberglass shafts of the past and it will turn an 19 ounce cue into a 20 ounce pool cue. This only applies if you wish to mate this shaft with a legacy Cuetec butt.

I have to say, the white ferrule creates an illusion of dimensions, like looking at an oversized, slip on barroom tip when sighting down the shaft I would have liked to return it and order a Predator Rivo, but i accidently ruined the interior box that held the shaft wipes-so I guess I’m stuck with it, Not using it and hope I do not have to color ferrule to try to get used to it

I’m not Worthy
Glad they had a question about my skill level as that’s probably highly relevant when it comes to reviewing shafts. Now here’s the lowdown: I can hardly tell one from another except years ago I didn’t like the sound of a Revo, not when shooting, but when tapping balls into position. Sounded like a hollow curtain rod. Now I’ve currently got Becue, Jacoby Black, a custom All-in-Billards, Pechauer Rogue (a great feeling shaft), and two Rhino shafts, plus this one. The fellow I play weekly, who can run racks and is a strong player, recently switched from a highly regarded kielwood custom shaft to carbon to try it out, and took the budget route, a Rhino. And he loves it, even loves the tip. And thinks it’s significantly upped his game. And he is playing better than ever. So if you are on a budget, I recommend the Rhino. However, an online friend who lives in Vietnam (Rhino is a Vietnamese company) and is a REALLY strong player who collects seriously fantastic cues (I do too but I’m only an egg) told me the Cuetec Synergy was the his recommendation for best carbon fiber shaft and didn’t think Rhino build quality is the superior. So recently, when I acquired a fine 1990s vintage Schon, even though I can’t really tell differences yet (I do plan to run racks eventually), and didn’t want to use the maple shafts it came with, and could have put a Rhino on there and probably have been just fine, I couldn’t do it. The Schon cried out to me, “Don’t put a budget shaft on my noble butt!”. And there is a major psychological aspect to this game. And if you don’t listen when your cue speaks to you, won’t it let you down when you most need it to work for you? So I listened to my expert player Vietnamese friend and to Shane (“Come back Shane! Come back!” That’s from a favorite classic movie) and to the Schon. Order THE CUETEC. Now it costs double the price of a Rhino BUT a hundred or two less than the Revo Becue Jacoby shafts out there, so I think if you can get the top-notch for $400, and really care about having a top notch highly regarded shaft, the Cuetec is a fantastic bargain at $400. Frankly I am surprised they don’t charge more. But currently all the best CF shafts are overpriced, so maybe Cuetec thought, Hey let’s beat the competition by putting out the best shaft and charging less for it.

I must admit, this shaft has been really great. The craftsmanship in this shaft is wonderful. it has definitely made my shoot making and cueing a lot better.

Great Upgrade for Wood Cue stick
