    Summit shaft

I have only had a chance to shoot with it a couple times due to the shut down (covid 19) but I like it! The best part was the service I ordered the wrong pin size called customer service they sent correct one before I sent the other back which I received in time for a tournament that weekend – Awesome Service!

    Summit Shaft

Truthfully, service was outstanding! As far as the shaft it performs extremely well. my only comparison is with Mcdermott cues and this is just as good if not better due to the Kamui tip included along with tip tool. Excellent price point for very solid cue stick. Pretty impressive all around.

Im no expert but seems good. More spin, more pocketed shots.

From my perspective, i can definitely put more action on the ball which is nice. As far as deflection, no shaft can eliminate it, but i am making more shots overall. Happy with the purchase for sure.

From my perspective, it has eliminated a portion of the slight movement I get when applying spin english. I find that extremely helpful to my game.

    SUMMIT LD 12.5 SHAFT

FIRST: on many reviews on ALL websites, I’d go as far to say that 70% of them aren’t helpful in making a determination of making a purchase on the item you’re reading about. I will do my best to help you by giving information that I would be looking for personally to make a “WHY” decision on a purchase. To say things like “It’s great for the money” I really like it” In my PERSONAL opinion, these kinds of reviews are NEVER the types of information I’d want or need to make a helpful informed decision on making a purchase. I am NOT slamming those that do these kinds of reviews. Often I “think” sometimes they are just excited and other times I think they are not high caliber players, because they are skipping what “I FEEL” a review is made for. For the purpose of value on my opinions (not for bragging) I played in A & AA pool leagues and took MVP 5 years in a row. I also played in 2+ tournaments per week and played a MINIMUM of 50 hours a week back when I played. I quit a long time ago and I’m now picking up my stick again, but the above information is strictly to let you know I am not a beginner, but an advanced player. I also want to add that I was using a 2.5″ / 2 oz forward weight increase Cool Max extension on all tests mentioned and any slight effect this had was 100% ON ME due to a learning curve of adding 2 ounces just below the shaft and NO WAY will I be removing this and will shoot with it 100% of the time. (Not sure that matters, but I’m just trying to be fair) OK HERE’S MY REVIEW 1) I put the CB on the dot, an OB ball froze to the rail of the middle diamond and at least 30 times each, I used 2 1/2 tips of both left and right English aiming dead center to the OB and fired at different speeds and even at the speed of a break shot, (UNLESS IT WAS MY FAULT / MY DOINGS) I hit the OB DEAD CENTER every time!! 2) I then removed the object ball and just aimed at the middle diamond and again, the same outcome. MEANING I had ZERO deflection. Now in fairness, I was playing on a 7ft bar box. Granted, your stance, line of aim, stroke and more all come into play here, BUT this is not relevant in my opinion, because the ability used in doing this is 100% on you, no matter what cue / shaft you’re using and this review is 100% about the Summit LD 12.5 shaft. 3) The taper was FLAWLESS!!! Now Drew (at pooldawg) did hand pick the shaft and did have my butt sent to him & he’s well aware I’m extremely picky and critical, so he actually measured the entire shaft making sure the taper was true. I honestly don’t know if he went through 1 shaft or 10, but the taper was PERFECT!!!!! 4) The Summit comes with the Kamui original clear (soft) tip, which is $21 and this scared me, thinking “The shaft is priced right that much less” Now I’m really worried it won’t be fine, I was WRONG!! I had never used a Kamui before, which I will do a separate review on the tip as properly. Keep in mind, I never shot without the front end Cool Max extension that adds 2 ounces in an unusual place & usually, I’m a hard hitter type of shooter, but other than my deflection test, I contact just above soft and never over a medium speed & I was in utter shock that even on slower hits, how much the CB moved around the table 100% from juice (English) and not speed. 5) JUST PLAYING AROUND – I decided to screw around and do some normal throw shots. I have a more than I guess usual knowledge of throw shots, be it frozen balls to make a shot, single ball to make cuts or doing so for the purpose of shape. I spent an insane amount of hours testing the limits, effects and benefits of throw, because it intrigued me so much. & I couldn’t believe I was missing several different kinds of shots with throw that I consider easy shots, but I was missing them BY A LOT from way more throw than I thought I could / would get on the shots I was taking and I’m not talking soft shots, so that tip in FRICKIN INSANE with getting English, the shaft preformed flawlessly and the ability to move the ball around rails just by juice, rather than speed blew my mind. The amount of throw you can get, be it two frozen balls or one ball was amazing. I have always used reverse English and never understood the chatter of fearful use of reverse English. If we get on a slight WRONG angled shot, because you went past your proper line of angle & needed reverse for shape on the next ball. Now remember, I wasn’t playing games, so I didn’t go on the wrong side of the line, I put the CB there because I was just testing things, so I would keep setting up worse n worse angles for just OB contact and one rail coming back out (so nothing difficult) but the transfer of English off the rail was mind blowing AND CONSISTENT. DON’T WORRY, I didn’t forget about draw, follow, curve shots and Masse. I just want to remind you I had a never before used 2 ounces of weight just before the shaft & I don’t think it’s fair to make a bad review on something that is either MY FAULT or creates a legit (excuse?) to say there’s a learning curve, ESPECIALLY MASSE! First I think it’s only fair to let you in on the table used for these tests. 1) Not only did it NOT have simonis 860 cloth, but it may be fair to say it’s been 860 months since it was re-greened. 2) The table was a Valley Dynamo, which is an Stellar table WHEN TAKEN CARE OF! This table is not level, rail points are all different heights, the bumpers are HORRIBLE (which is what shocked me more how much juice moved the ball around the table) 3) Plainly put – the table used for these tests is close to a complete POS!!! If you aren’t familiar with the meaning of POS, the first 2 words stand for “PIECE OF” so you can guess what the “S” stands for yes?……….. OK, let’s start with draw. With a proper full stroke, it took minimal effort to draw 1/2 of the table, contact the rail and come out to the first diamond. AGAIN, I said “Minimal” I did set up a shot with a ball close to the pocket, CB behind the string, draw back contact the rail and IDK come to the 2nd diamond, but I was trying to get a long draw. However, while the shaft and tip you use, DOES help you get better draw, being honest if you don’t have the stroke & or knowledge to do this, please don’t blame the shaft & tip. MOVING ON – Follow also worked wonderful, but honestly and I’m going to say this for all of these. I believe I have a learning curve using the Cool Max. Adding 2 1/2″ for my long arms was PERFECT. I did not add it to reach further shots because of stretch. 1) I’m 6’2″ 2) I just shoot left handed on those kinds of shots. On a personal note – if you’re serious about pool PRACTICE playing both hands & made dam sure you have a good stable bridge & straight stroke using your non dominant hand! CURVE SHOTS – This was wonderful, effortless and simple. The tip did not glide / slip off. I did get more juice using the Kamui, so I did have to alter to this. If I remember, all I did was lower my angle / degree of the cue. MASSE did not work out so well, but I truly believe it had to do with not being use to the 2 ounces of weight being in an unfamiliar place or it was just one of those days I couldn’t pick up a Masse shot. Guess we’ll see. Therefore in NO WAY will I blame the shaft or cue and only the operator! This effected many things, but there is no way I’m removing the extender! THE BOTTOM LINE – To say this shaft if terrific or stellar and then write “FOR THE MONEY” is a complete insult to this shaft!!! I have this on an expensive McDermott & it fit SO TIGHT – SO PERFECT, you would think I sent it to McDermott and yes I’m talking about with and without the Cool Max. Without the fit in just crazy tight. This shaft reminds me of the custom Lucassi I had, which I won in a raffle that stated the Lucassi was retailed at $700, so I’m thinking to buy what I had was about $450 to $500?. When I tried it, I stopped using a $1,200 Muccei. You can go spend $350 on a shaft and maybe these carbon fibers are wonderful. I don’t know being honest, but I used all speeds with 2 1/2 tips simple and contact dead center. I’m not sure what more you can ask for then this with squirt / deflection. I do not see anyone going wrong ever buying this shaft. I would HIGHLY recommend going through POOLDAWG. In reviews I saw so many comments about how great pooldawg was that I actually got annoyed, because I was trying to read information on the product, not the company. After HOURS of phone calls and emails, I understood why so many people commended them. I did have problems with my first order and before I could finish my complaints I was POLITELY cut off and told, I’ll send you a return label and take care of it AND THEY DID!!!!! Everyone I spoke to their was 1) A pool player. 2) Had detailed knowledge of EVERY product and question I had. 3) Never once tried to steer me in the direction of buying something more expensive. 4) All the positive comments I’ve read about their service and them CARING that you are happy, through actual experience, I’ve found them to be true. 5) Fair or not, if you were my friend and asked me who I would speak to there, my answer would be Drew hands down. I hope this helped and in no way did I mean the other staff isn’t great, I spoke with many, but when it came down to decision time, I prefer to speak to one person and Drew did EVERYTHING he said he would and more.

    Summit pro ld shaft

I have to say, with a closed bridge I usually use a glove but with this shaft there’s no need. It feels perfectly balanced when I shoot the shot and stroke it glides through my hand smooth. As properly when you play a shoot you can get the really nice control with cue to the pool cue ball. As well it’s the best ld shaft I have ever used.

Experts when it come to pool

Without a doubt, i just bought a new shaft from PoolDawg. I dealt with Drew (I think that was his name). Being a C to C+ level player I told him what I wanted relating to price, feel, low deflection and tip hardness/softness. He recommended a Summit Pro LD 12.5 mm. It’s a amazing, satisfactory value shaft. It feels great. It is quite low deflection. The tip performs much better on draw than the previous tip/shaft I was using. If I need anything else I will gladly use PoolDawg and be willing to use their expertise.

TO HELP DECIDE WHY TO Pick up THIS – After8 Months of use (2nd review)

You will NOT see “FOR THE MONEY” on my review. If you pay $50 or $300 and the item sucks, then it wasn’t worth buying plain and simple! Too many reviews don’t really help someone make a proper decision. My review on 8/16/20 was a book and overkill, but 8 months later, I’m still giving it a 5 stars. My 1st review, I put the shaft through many tests. If deflection is a main concern, I maxed at 2 1/2 tips at several speeds and had zero deflection. What I didn’t include was I am a hard juice player, so it’s habit to compensate and honestly, YOU should know your stick! The tip included, draw, top, sidespin, cure shots, masse, jumping off the rail… it is even better than my original claims. I threw it on a 1991 Mcdermott. Now I did send the butt to Drew (AWESOME EMPLOYEE) but everyone there knew their shi$. The fit, I was concerned I’d have to carry a pipe wrench to screw it together and it is still that tight. Now I used a cool max, but switched to the 4″ rite forward extension and got lucky how it fit. There is no way buying this shaft would be disappointing. If you wanna purchase a Lucasi or Katana, I wouldn’t argue. At the time, I didn’t have the money to buy the Lucasi and I can tell you, there is no reason for me to pick up one since I have this invested and this thing does everything I want.

Without a doubt, through my first several racks and it has quickly taken my game to another level. It hits with so little deflection that it has caused me to adjust my aiming greatly. The first two racks were bad! But the more I play with it the better I’m getting. The Kamui tip is fantastic and I’m getting so much more spin on the ball with very little effort. Great value, plays effectively

I needed a second shaft in bag I lose a tip during a tournament so I bought this as a backup to my Revo 12.4. For the money it is a great value. Although not as silky smooth as the Revo, the hits are solid, there’s no additional deflection, and it’s easier for me to control spin with the Kamui Soft tip than the Predator Victory Soft on my Revo. As with every other transaction with Pooldawg, the customer service is excellent!

Well, I must say; this is a quality shaft that I bought to upgrade an old stick that I always liked the feel of. It fit perfectly and plays fabulous. The only complaint that I have is that if you are importing this to Canada in Ontario this $184 shaft after the exchange and $50 import fees, the cost is actually more like $315 CAD. Not PoolDawg’s fault, I just thought Ontarians should know. The people at PoolDawg are truly knowledgable and truly friendly. Top-notch organization.
