    reliable choice

Solid pool cue. Definitely lives up to McDermott reputation. Just a quality cue with excellent playability.

    Great cue for the price

I am quite happy with my choice of a low deflection pool cue. I have more stick ball control. I love the red stain. I will have to get a black composite shaft to finish the look. I didn’t give a 5th star because it could use a softer tip.

    THIS Cue stick IS Stellar

This cue is awesome! I ordered the standard Navigator black medium tip. But upgraded to a 19oz with all black wrap. The G-core shaft drastically reduces squirt, swerve and throw. It took me some time to get used to the difference between the G208 and my old stick the GS07. But once you do, you be amazed at what you can do with the cue ball. I used to spend so much time thinking about how the stick ball action was going to affect the object ball. Now I dont have to waste time on that. I figure out the angle and can concentrate more on how much english and speed I need. I know the object ball is going straight no matter what! I play a lot of 8 ball. This stick has improved my game tons! I highly vouch for it.

    MCDERMOTT G208 POOL CUE

I’ve used mcDermott cues for 10 years & this is my 1st new technology shaft & all I can say is Wow! The low deflection shaft has boosted my confidence with really long shots. The photo does not do this cue justice. It is a beauty. My game improved so much that I joined a league.

Was time for a step up

Got this cue a few weeks ago. I have been in APA for a year and wanted to step to the next level with a low deflection cue stick. Didn’t want the expense of a full carbon fiber so I chose this cue because of the Gcore shaft. I am so glad I did. Granted that I am still getting used to it because it is different than a regular maple shaft. I am seeing more action on the cue ball. I really like that because I am working on cue ball position. I got a 20 oz. because I like a bit heavier, and I upgraded to the Kamui black clear tip. Thanks to Pool Dawg! Am impressed by ordering from PD! They are always great.

    G208 and Pooldawg review

I have to say, very content with my purchase. The cue is much more nice-looking in person. Also, I’m truly satisfied with Pooldawgs delivery. It has showed up quite quickly. I’ll be ordering from pooldawg again soon. Thank you PoolDawg for your service. Very happy with my purchase and service. My cue had no blemishes, scratches, warps etc. I feel they pay attention to the detail of the item that they ship out to you before they ship it to you.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBMCD, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott G208 Cue use?

It uses a 3/8X10 joint. That means any 3/8X10 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X10 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott G208 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott G208 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott G208 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 3/8X10 joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
