  1. Alex A. –

    Great purchase

I have owned and shot with more expensive cues, but in my opinion this is the finest stick I have ever held in my hands. It has the control and feel I look for in a stick. Having played the game since I was a child, this is my personal favorite after having played more than 50 years. I bought this cue expecting nothing new in the way of performance, but I can tell you I was really pleasantly surprised in the improvement of my game. You will not go wrong with it.

  2. Karen S. –

    Royal Mac

A great pool cue and company. Pooldawg service is outstanding, very special people especially a lady named Laura. I am just starting to play again after a 47 year lay off so I had a lot of questions and she graciously offered her help and (patients) . Thank you really much and God bless.

  3. Lisa K. –

    More than satisfied

Truthfully, from beginning to end, purchasing, customer service, and the final item exceeded my expectations.

  5. Jim P. –

    Gorgeous

Awesome pool cue and appears great !

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott G436 Cue use?

It uses a 3/8X10 joint. That means any 3/8X10 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X10 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott G436 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott G436 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott G436 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay. Because this one is over $600, a 10% restocking fee applies to the return.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 3/8X10 joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
