The McDermott G706 Cue is a McDermott playing cue sold by Quarter King Billiards. It has a McDermott Quick Release joint and a 13.00mm classic wood shaft. It is in stock at $1,197, with free shipping over $98 and 30-day returns.

Description

The McDermott G706 is a cocobolo playing cue with a lizard-embossed leather wrap. Cocobolo covers both the forearm and the butt sleeve, and both carry inlays. The butt finishes with a black composite plate bearing a gold McDermott logo and a black rubber bumper with the McDermott logo.

The 29 inch shaft is McDermott’s Intimidator 2, an i-Shaft built around a triple-layer carbon fiber core that runs the full length from ferrule to joint; the maker says the core stabilizes the shaft and reduces vibration. It is tipped with a 13mm Navigator Black Medium and fitted with a 1/2 inch Ivorene ferrule. The joint is the McDermott Quick Release, and quick-release joints in general connect and separate in fewer turns than a conventional threaded pin.

A weight bolt allows the weight to be changed, and the cue comes in 18, 19, 20 and 21 oz. No extension, case or joint protectors are included. The cue is made in the USA, and McDermott’s lifetime warranty includes warpage.

    Love iy

I recently got this cue,my first online.I found it extremely well balanced. The stick is neither too hevy in the but nor shaft hevy.the I2 shaft has great minimal defection but still feels like a turned maple shaft. Pool dog were on the money as service was concerned. This is a beautiful and great performing cue.

  2. Jen S. –

    Excellent cue stick

The balance is great . It has a outstanding feel and the soft tip is outstanding for ball spin. Extremely nice looking stick with a fine feeling leather wrap.

  3. Sue W. –

    Fantastic pool cue

I must admit, really like the look. Adore the balance. Outstanding cue stick Note: I use the defy shaft with it.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBMCD, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

This model takes a weight-bolt system, so the weight and balance point can be tuned after purchase. Adding weight toward the butt moves the balance rearward for a more planted feel; less weight shifts it forward for a livelier stroke. The balance point on a finished cue usually sits about 18 to 19 inches from the butt.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott G706 Cue use?

It uses a McDermott Quick Release joint. That means any McDermott Quick Release shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against McDermott Quick Release before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott G706 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott G706 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott G706 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is reptile skin. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay. Because this one is over $600, a 10% restocking fee applies to the return.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a McDermott Quick Release joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
