McDermott GS14 pool cue featuring 29″ Solid AA Maple Shaft shaft. G-Core.

The McDermott GS14 Cue is a McDermott playing cue sold by Quarter King Billiards. It has a 3/8X10 joint and a 13.00mm classic wood shaft. It is in stock at $329, with free shipping over $98 and 30-day returns.

Description

Purple is a distinctive choice for the GS14, a solid single-color finish over the standard GS Series build of a 3/8×10 joint, 13mm Classic Wood shaft, and linen wrap. At around $330 it matches the pricing of most other GS Series cues in this catalog, so the purple finish is offered without any premium over the more common black, blue, or green options. This is a fitting pick for a player who wants a splash of personality on an otherwise no-frills entry cue built for the table rather than the display case. The GS14 is currently out of stock, so purple fans will want to check back on availability.

    Dependable

A reliably construction stick. McDermott delivers on value and accuracy with their products.

    Construction Starter cue

Cue balance is good, a little back heavy. Pro taper on the shaft that came with it is nice, but feels a little cheap. I’m using my Cuetec Synergy shaft on it and it feels like a much nicer stick. For the value point it’s a deal.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBMCD THIN, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott GS14 Cue use?

It uses a 3/8X10 joint. That means any 3/8X10 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X10 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott GS14 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott GS14 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott GS14 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 3/8X10 joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
