Description

The Triple 60 FG57 Signature Playing Shaft was developed with world champion Fedor Gorst. Viking says it went through 56 iterations before the 57th, and that it is the shaft Gorst used in his 2024 wins. It is a carbon fiber shaft with an extra long 18 inch pro taper.

Stated specifications are a 12.50 mm Kamui Clear Original Soft tip, a white ferrule, a flex rating of 555, a 30 inch length and rear balance. Viking lists the weight at 3.68 ounces and notes that it can vary with the adapter used and its age, because shafts are weighed on the current Uniloc QR Unibody adapter. The joint insert is selected from a list of 14 styles, from Viking Quick Release and Radial to several 3/8 and 5/16 thread patterns.

Coverage is a limited lifetime warranty. Viking also states that the warranty on Triple 60 carbon shafts is void when the shaft is used on a cue with an aluminum pin.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Triple 60 FG57 Signature Playing Shaft use?

It uses a 3/8X11, 3/8X10, 3/8X14, 5/16X14, 5/16X14 Piloted, 5/16X18, 5/16X18 Piloted, McDermott Quick Release, Radial, Uni-Loc, Viking Quick Release, Wavy joint. That means any 3/8X11, 3/8X10, 3/8X14, 5/16X14, 5/16X14 Piloted, 5/16X18, 5/16X18 Piloted, McDermott Quick Release, Radial, Uni-Loc, Viking Quick Release, Wavy shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X11, 3/8X10, 3/8X14, 5/16X14, 5/16X14 Piloted, 5/16X18, 5/16X18 Piloted, McDermott Quick Release, Radial, Uni-Loc, Viking Quick Release, Wavy before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Triple 60 FG57 Signature Playing Shaft?

This cue ships with a 12.50mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Triple 60 FG57 Signature Playing Shaft comes with a Carbon Fiber shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Triple 60 FG57 Signature Playing Shaft built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

Is Quarter King an authorized Whyte Carbon dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Whyte Carbon dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.
