Description

The Xcel KS01S is a black pool cue shorty, a 52-inch cue for players who want something more compact than a full-length cue or who play where room is tight. The shorter length is practical in tight spots near a wall. It sits in the KS line from Xcel, the standard entry-level cues in the range.

The shaft is 100% hard rock maple at 29 inches, fitted with a 13 mm brown leather tip and a 10 mm glossy black collar. A 5/16 x 18 joint connects it to the butt, which has a cream Implex cap and a compression bumper. With a 29-inch shaft inside a 52-inch overall length, the butt section is where the cue gets its compact size.

Black is the colour, with a simulated wrap in black on the handle. The cue weighs approximately 18 oz, and the cream Implex butt cap breaks up the black. It is a short, no-fuss option for anyone who needs a short pool cue in the rack.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Xcel KS01S Black Pool Cue Shorty use?

It uses a 5/16X18 joint. That means any 5/16X18 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X18 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Xcel KS01S Black Pool Cue Shorty?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Xcel KS01S Black Pool Cue Shorty comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Xcel KS01S Black Pool Cue Shorty built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is wrapless. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized Xcel dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Xcel dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.
