Description

Gunmetal grey is the look of the Xcel KS09, an entry-level pool cue for players who want a cooler, more muted finish than a bright color. It comes from the standard KS line, where the build is kept uncomplicated. Black accents on the collar and wrap keep the gunmetal from looking flat.

Xcel pairs a 29-inch shaft of 100 percent hard rock maple with a 13 mm brown leather tip. The 10 mm collar is glossy black, and the cue connects at a 5/16 x 18 joint. For grip there is a matte black simulated wrap, and the butt closes with a black Implex cap and a compression bumper. Nothing here is fancy, and that is part of the appeal.

The listed colors are grey and black, so the gunmetal finish sits against black trim at the collar and wrap. Available weights are 18, 19, 20 and 21 oz, picked at checkout. If you want a gunmetal Xcel cue for casual games, the KS09 covers the basics with a leather tip and a hard maple shaft.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Xcel KS09 Gunmetal Pool Cue use?

It uses a 5/16X18 joint. That means any 5/16X18 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X18 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Xcel KS09 Gunmetal Pool Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Xcel KS09 Gunmetal Pool Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Xcel KS09 Gunmetal Pool Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is wrapless. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized Xcel dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Xcel dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.
