Description

The Koda KDV40PL VIP Combo is a black pool cue from Koda’s KDV series of playing cues, built for players who want a linen-wrapped cue with a Le Pro tip and a long warranty behind it. It is a classic-looking black cue with the weight set toward the butt, for players who like that balance.

The playing shaft is 100% hard rock Canadian maple, 29 inches long, with a 12.5 mm Le Pro tip and a 10 mm matte black collar. A 5/16 x 18 joint connects it to the butt, which is wrapped in black double pressed Irish linen and is backend loaded. A black Implex butt cap and a compression bumper finish the butt.

Everything is black, from the linen wrap to the collar and the butt cap, so the look is understated. Choose from 18, 19, 20 or 21 oz at checkout. The cue is covered by a 10-year warranty that includes warpage, which gives a long-term reason to choose the KDV40PL.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Koda KDV40PL Pool Cue VIP Combo use?

It uses a 5/16X18 joint. That means any 5/16X18 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X18 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Koda KDV40PL Pool Cue VIP Combo?

This cue ships with a 12.50mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Koda KDV40PL Pool Cue VIP Combo comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Koda KDV40PL Pool Cue VIP Combo built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized Koda dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Koda dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.
