Lucasi Cues, Cue Cases & Shafts

Lucasi is the cue line Cue & Case built its business on, a house brand of the Brunswick Billiards Group family that puts low-deflection shaft technology into cues at production prices. Every current model is built around two core parts, the quick-release Uni-Loc joint and the Zero Flexpoint shaft, and the Hybrid series adds a spliced-shaft build with a dampened grip on top of that. Quarter King carries 96 Lucasi products across custom-inlay cues, Hybrid and Hybrid Rival cues, jump and break cues, matching Zero Flexpoint shafts, and Lucasi cases, priced from about $20 to about $1,200.

Every item is brand new and 100% genuine, backed by its full manufacturer warranty. Free shipping on orders over $98 (contiguous US) and 30-day returns. Every spec on this page is checked against the manufacturer's published data by our Wilmington, NC store team.

About Lucasi

About Lucasi

Lucasi traces back to 1991, when pool player Jim Lucas started Cue & Case with the goal of making a well-built cue affordable to the average player rather than just the tournament crowd. The brand that came out of that goal carries his name to this day. Cue & Case has since grown into one arm of the Brunswick Billiards Group, sitting alongside Brunswick Billiards and American Heritage Billiards as sibling brands under the same ownership umbrella. Cue & Case describes Lucasi as a brand that has been part of the billiards community for more than two decades, continuing to update its shaft and joint technology across that span. Lucasi remains the group's production cue line: the shafts and joints are engineered in-house, the cues are built in China to a standard spec sheet across the range, and the pricing stays well under the custom-cue tier while still carrying real low-deflection shaft technology.

The technology behind a Lucasi cue

Two pieces of hardware show up on almost every current Lucasi model, the joint that connects the shaft to the butt, and the shaft itself. A third, the Hybrid line's spliced shaft and dampened grip, is layered on top of those two in the higher-end models. Here is what each one actually does for a player.

Uni-Loc quick-release joint

The Uni-Loc is a quick-release joint, meaning the shaft comes off the butt with a partial turn instead of the several full rotations a standard threaded pin needs. It is Lucasi's default joint across the range, showing up on the Custom series, the standard Hybrid cues, the jump and break cues, and the replacement shafts sold separately. It matters mostly for two things: breaking the cue down quickly for a case, and swapping shafts on cues built to take more than one. On most models the shaft that comes off ends in a Zero Flexpoint ferrule, with a small number of models using a fiber or carbon-fiber ferrule instead.

Zero Flexpoint low-deflection shafts

Zero Flexpoint is Lucasi's name for its low-deflection shaft technology, built to reduce cue-ball squirt on off-center hits so a player has more margin on cut shots that need side spin. In its base form it is a solid-core maple shaft cut to a professional taper, used on the Custom series and typically paired with a Tiger Everest tip. The Hybrid and Hybrid Rival lines instead run a laminated, spliced version of the same concept, paired with a Kamui Original Soft or Kamui Pro Soft tip in place of the Custom line's Tiger Everest.

Hybrid TSC construction and the X-Shox grip

The Hybrid line takes the Zero Flexpoint concept further with what Lucasi calls Total Sweet Spot Construction, a 10-piece radial-spliced shaft build rather than a single piece of maple. Splicing the shaft from multiple wedge-cut pieces is meant to spread the sweet spot across more of the tip rather than concentrating it in one small zone. On top of the shaft work, models like the LH10 and LHC97 Hybrid cues use a Fusion G5 grip with what Lucasi brands X-Shox dampening technology in place of a traditional wrap, intended to cut down on the vibration a player feels at the hit.

What Quarter King carries in Lucasi

Our 96-product Lucasi lineup breaks down across four areas of the catalog. Cues make up the bulk of it: 38 of the 96 sit in our Lucasi Pool Cues category, covering the Custom, Hybrid, Hybrid Rival, and jump and break lines, including entry Hybrid models like the LH10 and jump and break options like the L2000JB Jump Break Cue and L2000JC Jump Cue. Cases are a smaller, dedicated slice, 9 products in our Lucasi Cases category built to match the cues. The remaining 49 products are Zero Flexpoint replacement shafts, including the LCXS Custom Shaft at about $240, along with a small run of Lucasi accessories, both of which we list in our general shafts section rather than a dedicated Lucasi subcategory. By purpose rather than series, 78 of the 96 products are standard playing cues, 6 are dedicated jump cues, and 3 are break cues, a split that reflects the small Break & Jump series sitting alongside the much larger playing-cue range.

Joint, shaft and compatibility

89 of the 96 Lucasi products we carry use the Uni-Loc joint, 5 use a Radial joint (the Hybrid Rival cues), and 1 uses a Turbo-Lock joint. If you already own a Lucasi cue and are shopping for a spare shaft, matching the joint type is the first thing to check, since a Uni-Loc shaft will not thread onto a Radial or Turbo-Lock butt. A player wanting to try a Zero Flexpoint shaft on an existing Uni-Loc Custom cue can buy one as a standalone part, such as the LCXS, without replacing the whole cue.

Shaft size runs narrower: 66 of the 96 products are 12.75mm, 12 are 11.75mm (mostly the Hybrid Rival and Hybrid cues built for a slimmer feel), 2 are 13.00mm, and 1 is 12.50mm. A further 2 products, both in the Break & Jump line, run 13.75mm and 14.00mm shafts with a Bakelite tip rather than the soft tip used on playing cues, sizes built for that job rather than for everyday shooting. On the shaft material side, 44 products carry a classic wood shaft and 20 carry a carbon fiber shaft.

Wrap choice splits four ways across the lineup: 19 of the 96 products are wrapless, mostly Custom cues with a bare wood forearm or the Hybrid's rubber-style grip, 15 use a sport wrap, the Fusion G5 grip on Hybrid and Hybrid Rival cues, 13 use a linen wrap, and 11 use a leather wrap, the last two concentrated in the Custom series. For a broader shaft swap outside the Lucasi range, our full shafts category covers other Uni-Loc-compatible options as well.

Color is the widest-ranging attribute across the lineup: black leads at 23 of the 96 products, followed by tan (12), brown (11), blue (9), natural (6), grey (5), silver (3), and single-digit counts of red, green, and orange. That spread runs across both the Custom series' wood-tone finishes and the Hybrid line's painted color options.

Who it suits and how it plays

Lucasi splits into a value-focused Custom line and a step-up Pro Line, the latter developed with input from three-time Mosconi Cup USA team member Oscar Dominguez and WPBA professional Savannah Easton. That range gives Lucasi room to sell to a beginner picking a first real cue and to a league player who wants Zero Flexpoint shaft performance without paying custom-cue prices.

Players on the AZBilliards forums describe Lucasi as a strong value pick that shoots straight, while being clear it is not a cue that serious players covet the way they would a handmade custom. That lines up with where Lucasi sits in the market, a production cue built around real low-deflection shaft engineering rather than a collector's piece.

Warranty and what to know before you buy

Lucasi backs its cues with a lifetime guarantee against material and manufacturing defects, including warpage, a policy that has been in effect since July 2007. It does not cover normal wear on parts that are meant to be replaced over time, the tip, finish, or wrap, and it does not cover damage from abuse, mishandling, or third-party modification. The manufacturer requires the original sales receipt from an authorized Lucasi retailer to process a claim, and the warranty is non-transferable, so it stays with the original buyer rather than passing to a future owner of a used cue. Those same terms apply across all four series, custom-built or spliced-shaft alike.

What players say

Beyond the value-for-money consensus, AZBilliards threads on Lucasi mention a recurring issue with older wraps unraveling after enough use, with one owner reporting they needed to be redone for a modest repair cost each. On the Hybrid side, some forum members have raised questions about the durability of the ferrule and the feel of the rubber-style G5 grip compared to a traditional wrap, describing swelling or glue breakdown after a few months on the ferrule of one cue. There is also a segment of players who simply prefer a US-made cue over Lucasi's Chinese-built construction. None of this shows up as a dominant complaint, more a scattering of individual experiences alongside a broader base of owners who report a solid hit for the price.

Where to go from here

If you know which Lucasi you want, browse the Lucasi Pool Cues category for cues or the Lucasi Cases category for a matching case. If you're still deciding between the Custom and Hybrid families, the short version is that Custom keeps a solid one-piece shaft and a real wood forearm or wrap, while Hybrid trades that traditional feel for a spliced shaft and a dampened rubber-style grip, at a higher price point. For a wider look at low-deflection cues from other production brands, our full pool cues and shafts categories cover the rest of what we carry.

Frequently asked questions about Lucasi

Who makes Lucasi cues?

Lucasi is made by Cue & Case, part of the Brunswick Billiards Group alongside Brunswick Billiards and American Heritage Billiards. The brand traces to 1991, when pool player Jim Lucas founded Cue & Case to make quality cues more affordable.

What joint does Lucasi use?

Most Lucasi cues use the quick-release Uni-Loc joint, 89 of the 96 products we carry. A smaller number use a Radial joint (5) or a Turbo-Lock joint (1), mainly on the Hybrid Rival and select models.

What is Zero Flexpoint?

Zero Flexpoint is Lucasi's low-deflection shaft technology, built to reduce cue-ball squirt on off-center hits. It's a solid-core maple shaft on the Custom line and a laminated, spliced shaft on the Hybrid lines.

Does Lucasi offer a warranty?

Yes. Lucasi backs its cues with a lifetime guarantee against material and manufacturing defects, including warpage, in effect since July 2007. It excludes normal wear on the tip, finish, or wrap, and requires the original receipt from an authorized retailer.
