Action Inlay pairs decorative inlay work with a piloted 5/16x18 joint, a 13.00mm classic wood shaft and a linen wrap across all 7 models in the series. None are currently in stock, and prices run from about $170 to about $220, above the median price across Action's wider pool cue category. As with several smaller Action series, we don't have manufacturer marketing copy specific to Inlay, so this page draws on our own catalog data plus the wider, sourced facts we have on Action as a brand.
Every item is brand new and 100% genuine, backed by its full manufacturer warranty. Free shipping on orders over $98 (contiguous US) and 30-day returns. Every spec on this page is checked against the manufacturer's published data by our Wilmington, NC store team.
Inlay is one of 18 named series inside Action's pool cue lineup at Quarter King, and like the rest of the brand, it isn't the product of an independent cue-making company. Action is one of the manufacturer's own house brands, sold alongside sibling lines like Athena, Elite, Outlaw and Voodoo under the same shared house-brand lineup, and every Action cue we've checked against the manufacturer's spec sheet, Inlay included, lists China as its country of origin.
We haven't found a manufacturer page dedicated to the Inlay name at all; it's one of four series in our catalog, alongside Calavera, Classic and Mayhem, that aren't reflected in the manufacturer's current site navigation. What we can verify instead comes from our own catalog: 7 cues, none currently in stock, priced from about $170 to about $220, above the $179.10 median price across the wider Action Pool Cues category.
All 7 Inlay cues use a piloted 5/16x18 joint, a small guide pin on the shaft tenon that centers the shaft before the threads engage, so it lines up the same way every time you screw it in. 5/16x18 is the most common joint thread in production cues, so an aftermarket 5/16x18 shaft will generally fit, though matching the pilot means looking for a piloted shaft or sleeve specifically rather than any plain 5/16x18 tenon.
The shaft is 13.00mm and built from classic wood, the standard construction across all but one cue in the entire Action range. Every Inlay cue also carries a linen wrap, a tightly wound cord wrap that's the second most common wrap type Action uses after going wrapless. Compared with a bare, wrapless handle, a linen wrap gives the grip hand more texture to hold onto, especially in a warm room or over a long session where a smooth finish can start to feel slick.
Inlay runs seven models: the INL09, INL10, INL11, INL12, INL13, INL14 and INL17. Five of the seven are priced at $224.10, with the INL10 the outlier at $171.90; we don't have a confirmed current price on file for the INL17. Our color tags lean toward black and tan, each appearing on five of the seven, with brown on four, red and grey on two apiece, and a single blue tag, more tags than cues, so several models carry more than one color option. None of the seven are currently in stock.

Every Inlay cue in the table above runs the same 29 inch hard rock maple shaft blank with a 10 to 12 inch pro taper and the same cream butt plate carrying the black Action logo, so the differences that follow come down to forearm wood, inlay color, sleeve and, in one case, the collar.
INL09 and INL12 share the same three-tone inlay points, dark chocolate, maple and black, but swap which wood carries the stain. INL09 sets those points into a gray-stained forearm with a plain chocolate-stain butt sleeve, while INL12 leaves the forearm in natural birdseye maple figure and moves the dark chocolate stain to the sleeve instead. Both keep the line's stainless steel collar and the cream butt plate with the black Action logo.
INL10 and INL11 both work maple and red into their inlay points, but the base wood runs in opposite directions. INL10 stains a birdseye maple forearm cherry red to match a cherry-stain sleeve, while INL11 goes dark chocolate on the forearm, adds black into the point mix, and leaves its birdseye maple sleeve in natural, unstained figure rather than matching the forearm stain.
INL13 and INL14 are the only two Inlay models built around a single named hardwood instead of a stain color. INL13 cuts Zebrawood for both the spliced forearm points and a solid Zebrawood butt sleeve, with birdseye maple and black filling out the rest of the forearm pattern. INL14 uses rosewood for the forearm itself, sets maple, black and blue into its points, and pairs that forearm with a butt sleeve in brown-stained maple rather than a matching exotic species.
INL17 is the only Inlay model that departs from the stainless steel collar the rest of the line shares, pairing a black collar and silver ring with a grey-stained forearm that carries black, maple, blue and Purpleheart points. Its butt sleeve is solid Purpleheart, the one sleeve in the series that isn't a stained or natural maple.
The forearms in our catalog for this line are built with spliced or inlaid wood points rather than a painted pattern, which is the construction detail behind the Inlay name. Birdseye maple, the light maple prized in cue making for its small, naturally occurring dot-like figure, appears on four of the seven Inlay forearms, giving those points a grain pattern a plain maple blank does not have.
Rosewood and Zebrawood also appear as inlay materials on individual Inlay cues, both dense hardwoods that cue makers reach for because of their natural dark or striped color rather than a stain or dye. The INL17 uses Purpleheart for its inner points instead, a hardwood that deepens toward violet-brown with age and light exposure, again valued for color that comes from the wood itself rather than a finish.
Six of the seven Inlay cues use a stainless steel collar, more resistant to scuffing than a painted or composite collar; the INL17 pairs a black collar with a silver ring instead. Every model in the line uses the same 1-inch fiber linen ferrule found across the Action catalog. See our glossary for definitions of ferrule, forearm, collar and the other cue-anatomy terms used on this page.
Because all 7 Inlay cues share the same piloted 5/16x18 joint and 13.00mm classic wood shaft, a replacement or backup shaft with those specs from our shafts category should fit any of them, provided it's built for a piloted joint. See our 5/16x18 joint and 13.00mm shaft size pages for every other cue on the site built to the same specs, and linen wrap to see what else on the site shares Inlay's grip style. Action's Mayhem series runs the same linen wrap on a similar 13.00mm classic wood shaft if you want a wider price spread within the same general build.
We don't have player feedback or retailer positioning specific to the Inlay name. Here is what dealer listings say about Action as a brand: one describes it as built for players of every level at an affordable price point, and another puts the typical Action cue at $100 to $300, a fit for a beginner moving up from a house cue, a budget-conscious intermediate, or a weekly league player. Inlay's roughly $170-to-$220 band sits at the upper end of that range, above Action's own catalog-wide median price of about $130.
We don't have SKU-level warranty documentation for any of the seven Inlay cues specifically. The manufacturer's spec sheet sorts Action's warranty coverage into broad buckets only, mostly a generic "Limited" policy, with a smaller share flagged "Limited-1 year," and it does not detail exclusions or a registration requirement. One dealer listing states the policy more plainly, a 1-year warranty against defects on every Action cue, though the manufacturer has not confirmed that duration for Inlay specifically, so check current terms before you buy, especially since all seven cues are currently out of stock and terms can change between production runs. What we can confirm is country of origin: every Action cue we've checked against the manufacturer's spec sheet, Inlay included, lists China as where it's made.
We haven't found community discussion specific to the Inlay line. The wider Action discussion we found on AzBilliards forums points to uneven build quality cue to cue, some good and some duds, with one experienced poster placing Action below Players and Elite in a side-by-side ranking while conceding the cues are tough enough for house-cue duty. That's brand-wide sentiment, not feedback about Inlay specifically, but it's the closest sourced context we have until Inlay-specific feedback turns up.
