Description

The ACTSP39M is a sneaky pete cue from Action, styled to look like a plain house cue while playing like a real one. This build gives the ACTSP39M a 5/16×18 joint, a 13mm classic wood shaft, a wrapless handle, and a zebrawood finish.

A sneaky pete’s plain look is part of the point, it doesn’t advertise that the player brought their own cue. Underneath the plain look, the joint and shaft are the same components used across Action’s wider catalog. In stock now, the ACTSP39M runs about $150 for the spec detailed above. Like most of Action’s catalog, the ACTSP39M keeps replacement parts simple since the joint and shaft use common sizes.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Action ACTSP39M Sneaky Pete Cue use?

It uses a 5/16X18 joint. That means any 5/16X18 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X18 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Action ACTSP39M Sneaky Pete Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Action ACTSP39M Sneaky Pete Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Action ACTSP39M Sneaky Pete Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.
