Description

This Action Starter cue is a black-stained playing cue with a black composite collar, a black and white nylon wrap, and a black butt plate carrying a silver Action logo. The forearm and butt sleeve are black-stained maple, and an Action plug bumper protects the butt.

The shaft is 29 inch hard rock maple with a 10 to 12 inch pro taper, tipped with a 13mm leather tip over a 1 inch fiber linen ferrule. A 5/16×18 pin joins shaft and butt, and the cue is offered in 18, 19, 20 and 21 oz with a weight bolt for changing the weight.

As a starter cue it suits newer players. A 5/16×18 pin is one of the most common joint sizes, and a limited Action warranty applies. An extension, case and joint protectors are not supplied.

    Great for begginers

It feels really superb in your hands. I like the wood-to-wood connection. Since I am an amateur I preferred this over a similar one because I had the option to change the weight later if I need it. As a beginner who knows the basics I didn’t want to go with a cue which aims solely beginners so I got this one and I’m super happy with it.

    Heavier weight for breaking

Thus far it seems and weighs terrific plus the Tiger Emerald medium tip appears to be the correct choice but haven’t had a chance to use it. League starts soon so this pool cue stick will be an asset to my game!

  3. Dan D. –

    Great first pool cue

I have to say, i’ve had my Action STR09 for a few weeks now and I’ve been playing a lot with it. It is my first stick and I am more than satisfied with it! I don’t own a table so I never really justified buying an expensive cue but when I found this inexpensive sharp looking cue I pretty much had to order it. Looks wonderful feels outstanding in your hands it’s lovely and straight the joints rest together solid and flush… no complaints here! And to much dismay of those who initially teased me (all in satisfactory fun) at the bar yes having my own pool cue has ‘made me better’. They’re not laughing now when I mop the floor with them and their banana shaped mushroom tipped house cues 😉

Outstanding cue for the price point

In my experience, originally ordered the Pooldawg cue because it stated it came with an Irish linen wrap. I wanted to match the red Pooldawg logo. I ordered it and when it arrived, no wrap. Michelle explained what the confusion was. This cue was a substitute for the Pooldawg cue stick. She offered to replace it with this cue stick even though it had been engraved. I decided to keep it and ordered this one as properly. As you can see…this was the idea I had for the Pooldawg cue stick. Maybe you guys can follow my lead. Would be a wonderful idea for a new Dawgs stick. 😉

    Felt much more comfortable in

Felt much more comfortable in my hands than the cues I usually borrow at the pool hall. The weight is fairly satisfying.

    Fantastic affordable cue for beginners

In my experience, was a casual player before joining a pool team. Needed my own pool cue but did not want to break the bank. Found this cue, the value was right even after a tip upgrade and choosing. Have shot quite a few games since getting it, and am very satisfied with how it feels in my hands and my game has felt like it has improved since getting it (likely something to do with how it is your own cue and not the bar or borrowed cue + developing fundamentals/skills). All the more experienced players around me have agreed (and approved!) that for the value and how the stick looks and feels, it is a excellent purchase for any beginner.

    Good starter stick

    Truthfully, good quality affordable cue

  9. Casey B. –

    New cue stick

My girlfriend is a beginner and she loves her new cue stick. 10/10

    Absolute perfection

The cue stick is absolutely flawless my game has improved tremendously the weight is perfectly balanced and exactly what I paid for it performs true as can be and I love it couldn’t have asked for a better deal

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBACT, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

This model takes a weight-bolt system, so the weight and balance point can be tuned after purchase. Adding weight toward the butt moves the balance rearward for a more planted feel; less weight shifts it forward for a livelier stroke. The balance point on a finished cue usually sits about 18 to 19 inches from the butt.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Action STR07 Starter Cue use?

It uses a 5/16X18 joint. That means any 5/16X18 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X18 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Action STR07 Starter Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Action STR07 Starter Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Action STR07 Starter Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is nylon wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized Action dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Action dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 5/16X18 joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
