    McDermott G338

I spoke with Toby from PoolDawg before purchasing the stick and he was a tremendous help in narrowing my choice down to the cue stick for me. I am really pleased with all aspects of the cue, the balance, the tip, the build quality and the appearance. Thank you.

    Extremely nicely made. I used

From my perspective, very nicely made. I used a cuetec before but decided to try something different this time. The look feel and performance is all there

Absolutely beautiful. It sure has made a big difference in my game.

  4. Morgan S. –

Worth more then it’s sold at!

I know McDermitt is a very high price point brand for cues so when I saw this one at 300+ dollars I didn’t expect it to be a really nice McDermott but also not a really cheap one.But I’m pleased to say that even though it’s only around $300 if feels more like it’s around $700 to $800. The wood graving in etching is flawless The rap is amazing to hold onto and it’s weighted beautifully. I got a tip replacement which I find is definitely valued at the extra couple bucks. So all in all it is definitely a good deal the money and I think it should actually be priced at higher personally because it just feels like such a great Cue stick. So if you can get it I recommend it heavily.

  5. Tom W. –

    Attractive Design, Great Make

McDermott cues have a terrific reputation for quality and my husband has had several different models for years. I have been playing pool seriously for about a year and when he asked what I wanted for my BD, McDermott was it! The G338 is attractive, the etched design makes it unique and the performance has been very good. I also love the lifetime warranty against warping. great value!

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott G338 Cue use?

It uses a 3/8X10 joint. That means any 3/8X10 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X10 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott G338 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott G338 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott G338 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 3/8X10 joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
