The McDermott GS06 Cue is a McDermott playing cue sold by Quarter King Billiards. It has a 3/8X10 joint and a 13.00mm classic wood shaft. It is in stock at $329, with free shipping over $98 and 30-day returns.

Description

Black and grey combine on the GS06, a two-tone departure from the mostly single-color GS Series lineup, still riding on the same 3/8×10 joint, 13mm Classic Wood shaft, and linen wrap as its relatives. At around $330 it holds the GS Series’ entry level pricing despite the slightly more detailed color scheme. This is a good option for a budget-minded player who still wants a bit of contrast in the finish rather than a flat single color. The linen wrap and standard joint keep the GS06 consistent in feel with every other GS Series cue in this catalog. The GS06 is currently out of stock.

The McDermott cue I bought

The McDermott cue I bought is exactly what I was expecting when it comes to build quality and personal style. It’s the ideal weight for me (18 oz) and delivers the right stroke. I have had it for two weeks only, but It’s safe to say it will be durable if maintained and taken care of. PoolDawg has been outstanding from the start all the way to the cue stick delivery and even making sure that I was completely satisfied with the product. Once my game gets better, I plan on getting another high quality cue, and it will definitely be through PoolDawg.

This is what is what

Truthfully, this is what is what I was looking for. A quality cue that didn’t break the bank. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable stick for league play.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBMCD, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott GS06 Cue use?

It uses a 3/8X10 joint. That means any 3/8X10 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X10 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott GS06 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott GS06 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott GS06 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.
