Players’ HXT18-SRP brings the HXT low-deflection shaft together with a maple butt and the brand’s straightforward production hardware. The HXT shaft is the genuine differentiator at this tier — it gives players a real taste of low-deflection behavior without leaving the budget price range Players built its name on. A smart fit for newer league players, casual weekly competitors, or anyone who wants better English response than a basic starter cue can deliver. Entry-level on price, a step above on shaft.

It uses a 5/16X18 Piloted joint. That means any 5/16X18 Piloted shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X18 Piloted before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.
This cue ships with a 12.75mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.
The Players HXT Low-Deflection Shaft - 12.75mm, 5/16x18 Piloted comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.
It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.
