Action Fractal is a 9-cue series built entirely on one spec: a 5/16x18 joint, 13.00mm classic wood shaft and linen wrap on every cue, priced from about $160 to about $250. Six of the nine are currently in stock. The manufacturer groups Fractal under its "Action Playing" line alongside series like Adventure and Garage, though we weren't able to pull manufacturer marketing copy specific to the Fractal name beyond that grouping.
Every item is brand new and 100% genuine, backed by its full manufacturer warranty. Free shipping on orders over $98 (contiguous US) and 30-day returns. Every spec on this page is checked against the manufacturer's published data by our Wilmington, NC store team.
4.8/5 average from 35 customer reviews across Action Fractal Cues.
Fractal is one of 18 named series inside Action's pool cue lineup, and one of the more consistently built ones: all 9 cues share the exact same joint, shaft and wrap spec. Action itself isn't an independent cue-making company; it's one of the manufacturer's own house brands, sold alongside sibling lines like Athena, Elite, Outlaw and Voodoo under the same shared house-brand lineup, and every Action cue we've checked against the manufacturer's spec sheet, Fractal included, lists China as its country of origin.
The manufacturer's own current site structure groups Fractal together with Adventure, Black & White, Economy, Exotic, Garage, Impact, Khrome, Ring, Starter and Value under a single "Action Playing" line, distinct from the separate Sneaky Pete, break-and-jump specialty, and Junior lines the manufacturer keeps apart. The individual playing-line pages themselves, Fractal's included, are built as a JavaScript site that didn't return readable marketing copy when we checked, so the details below come from our own catalog rather than manufacturer marketing text. Fractal's $160-to-$250 band runs close to the $180 median price across the whole Action Pool Cues category, positioning it as a mid-pack series on price rather than an entry or premium tier.
Every one of the 9 Fractal cues uses a plain 5/16x18 joint, the most common joint thread in production cues, so most aftermarket 5/16x18 shafts should thread on without an issue.
All 9 cues run a 13.00mm classic wood shaft, the standard construction across nearly the entire Action range, paired with a linen wrap, a tightly wound cord wrap that's the second most common wrap choice Action uses after going wrapless, and generally gives the grip hand more texture than a bare wrapless handle. That consistency, the same joint, shaft and wrap on every SKU, is unusual even within Action's own catalog; several other series split across two or more joint or wrap options, where Fractal doesn't. Action's Classic series uses the same 13.00mm classic wood shaft and mostly linen wrap combination, if you want to compare the two at a similar price point.
The line spans nine cues: the ACT154, ACT156, ACT157, ACT158, ACT159, ACT160, ACT161, ACT162 and ACT173. Most cluster at about $250 (the ACT154, ACT157, ACT158, ACT161 and ACT173), with the ACT156 close behind at about $240 and the ACT160 at about $230, while the ACT159 and ACT162 run lower, at about $160 and $190. Color tags across the nine lean toward blue and grey, with smaller runs in brown, black, green, red, yellow and tan, a wider color spread than several of Action's smaller series. Six of the nine are currently in stock.
All nine Fractal cues share the same 5/16x18 joint, 13.00mm classic wood shaft and linen wrap. What changes from SKU to SKU is color, forearm and butt-sleeve artwork, and, on six of the nine, a weight-bolt option. The table below has the model-by-model facts; the four paragraphs after it cover what actually separates the designs.
| Model | SKU | Colors | Weight options | Price | Availability |

The ACT157 and the ACT159 both start from a veneer-transfer forearm, a printed wood veneer layered under the clear coat, set with metallic points: blue points on the grey ACT157, teal metallic points on the honey-toned ACT159. Each pairs that forearm with a butt sleeve finished in matching epoxy resin rather than a second veneer transfer, so the pattern only carries onto the forearm half of the cue. The ACT157 also lists a white collar trimmed in black and silver and a white butt plate stamped with the Action logo in black, hardware not called out on the ACT159's listing.
The ACT158 and the ACT160 drop the veneer transfer and run the same epoxy resin design across both the forearm and the butt sleeve, grey with blue on the ACT158, honey with teal on the ACT160, so the artwork reads as one continuous piece rather than switching materials partway down the cue. Shaft, ferrule, tip, bumper and collar match their veneer-transfer counterparts exactly; only the forearm treatment differs.
The ACT161 and the ACT162 carry the series' most direct nod to its name: a burl-textured forearm and butt sleeve with a fractal graphic layered over it, black lines over burl red on the ACT161, grey lines over burl black on the ACT162. Both are the only Fractal SKUs offered in a single color rather than a two-color pairing, red for the ACT161 and grey for the ACT162. Beyond that graphic, they run the same shaft, ferrule, tip and bumper as the rest of the fully specified cues.
The ACT154, the ACT156 and the ACT173 are on file with only the series-standard joint, shaft and wrap; our catalog doesn't carry forearm, ferrule, tip or bumper detail for these three the way it does for the other six. Color is where they separate: the ACT154 in blue or grey, the ACT156 in black, brown or tan, the widest spread of any single Fractal SKU, and the ACT173 in black, blue or yellow, the only Fractal cue offered in yellow. None of the three lists a weight-bolt option in our data, unlike the six fully specified cues above.
Six of the nine Fractal cues on file, the ACT157 through ACT162, share a 29-inch hard rock maple shaft with a 10 to 12 inch pro taper, a 1-inch fiber linen ferrule and a 13mm Action 7-layered tip; the other three, the ACT154, ACT156 and ACT173, are listed in our catalog with the series' standard joint, shaft size and wrap but without that additional forearm and ferrule detail. Hard rock maple is the traditional cue-shaft wood, denser and straighter grained than ordinary maple, which is why it has stayed the standard material even as some other brands have shifted toward carbon fiber. See our glossary for more on shaft taper and deflection.
The fiber linen ferrule sits between the shaft and the tip on the six fully specified cues, protecting the end grain from splitting on impact and giving the tip a stable base. On top of it, the 7-layered tip is built from stacked material rather than a single piece, meant to hold its shape and compress consistently over repeated shots.
Every Fractal cue wears the same linen wrap, a tightly wound cord that gives the grip hand more texture than bare wood. What sets each fully specified SKU apart is the forearm and butt sleeve artwork, epoxy resin designs or veneer transfers layered over the maple, rather than any change to the underlying shaft, ferrule or tip.
Every Fractal cue uses the same 5/16x18 joint and 13.00mm classic wood shaft, so a replacement or backup shaft matched to those specs from our shafts category should fit any of them. See our 5/16x18 joint and 13.00mm shaft size pages for every other cue on the site built to the same specs, and linen wrap to compare it against Action's other wrap options.
We don't have player feedback or retailer positioning specific to the Fractal name. What follows draws on how outside retailers describe Action generally, not Fractal by name: one retailer positions the brand for "every level" of player at affordable pricing, while another independent retailer puts Action in the $100-to-$300 range, fitting a beginner moving up from a house cue, a budget-conscious intermediate, or a weekly league player. Fractal's $160-to-$250 band sits mostly inside, and at the upper end of, that estimate, and above Action's own catalog-wide median price of about $130.
We don't have SKU-level warranty documentation for the individual Fractal cues. The manufacturer's spec sheet puts most of Action's coverage under a broad "Limited" category, a smaller share under "Limited-1 year," with no detail given on exclusions or a registration requirement. One retail listing advertises a more specific 1-year warranty against defects across the whole Action range. That duration isn't confirmed with the manufacturer for Fractal specifically, so check current terms before you buy. What we can confirm is country of origin: every Action cue we've checked against the manufacturer's spec sheet, Fractal included, lists China as where it's made.
We haven't found community discussion specific to the Fractal line. Broader AzBilliards forum commentary on Action describes build consistency as a mixed bag, cue to cue, some units playing well and others called duds, and one experienced player ranked Action below Players and Elite cues while still calling them durable enough to take a beating as house cues. That's sentiment about Action generally, not Fractal in particular, but it's the closest sourced context available until Fractal-specific feedback turns up.

The joint is what decides whether a shaft fits, and every cue in Action Fractal Cues uses the 5/16X18 pin. That is the same 5/16X18 pin used across Meucci, Players, Rage, Valhalla and Xcel, so shafts move between them — always confirm the exact pin before buying.
