Action Mayhem Cues

Action Mayhem is a small, mixed-joint series: 4 cues, all sharing a 13.00mm classic wood shaft and a linen wrap, split unevenly between a piloted 5/16x18 joint, used on three of the four cues, and the plain version, used on the fourth. Just 1 of the 4 is currently in stock, priced from about $150 to about $240, one of the wider price spreads for a series this size in the Action lineup. As with several smaller Action series, we don't have manufacturer marketing copy specific to Mayhem, so this page draws on our own catalog data plus the wider, sourced facts we have on Action as a brand.

Every item is brand new and 100% genuine, backed by its full manufacturer warranty. Free shipping on orders over $98 (contiguous US) and 30-day returns. Every spec on this page is checked against the manufacturer's published data by our Wilmington, NC store team.

About Action Mayhem Cues

About Action Mayhem

Mayhem is one of 18 named series inside Action's pool cue lineup at Quarter King, and like the rest of the brand, it isn't the product of an independent cue-making company. Action is one of the manufacturer's own house brands, sold alongside sibling lines like Athena, Elite, Outlaw and Voodoo under the same shared house-brand lineup, and every Action cue we've checked against the manufacturer's spec sheet, Mayhem included, lists China as its country of origin.

We haven't found a manufacturer page dedicated to the Mayhem name at all; it's one of four series in our catalog, alongside Calavera, Classic and Inlay, that aren't reflected in the manufacturer's current site navigation. What we can verify instead comes from our own catalog: 4 cues, 1 currently in stock, priced from about $150 to about $240, a wider spread than most Action series this small.

Construction, in plain English

Split joints: 5/16x18 and piloted 5/16x18

Mayhem is one of the few Action series that doesn't standardize on a single joint. Three of the four cues, the MAY10, MAY22 and MAY26, use a piloted 5/16x18 joint, which adds a small guide pin on the shaft tenon to center the shaft before the threads engage. The fourth, the MAY28, uses the plain version with no pilot pin. Both are built on the same 5/16x18 thread, so an aftermarket shaft in that spec should fit any of the four, though matching a piloted cue specifically calls for a piloted shaft or sleeve.

13.00mm classic wood shaft and linen wrap

All four Mayhem cues run a 13.00mm classic wood shaft and a linen wrap, a tightly wound cord wrap that's the second most common wrap type Action uses after going wrapless. Compared with a bare, wrapless handle, a linen wrap gives the grip hand more texture, which is likely why Action pairs it with Mayhem rather than leaving the series wrapless the way it does with Garage.

The 4 Mayhem cues

The line covers four cues carrying the MAY10, MAY22, MAY26 and MAY28 model numbers, two of which share the printed name "Action MAY10 Mayhem Cue" in our system despite having different SKUs, an inconsistency in the underlying data rather than a naming choice on our part. The MAY22 is the priciest at about $240, the MAY10 runs about $180, and the MAY28 is priced at about $150; we don't have a confirmed current price on file for the MAY26. Color tags lean toward black, appearing on all four, with red on two and single tags for green, white, tan, grey and multicolor, more tags than cues, so at least one model carries more than one color option. Only one of the four is currently in stock.

The models we carry

Mayhem Cue (MAY10)

The MAY10 pairs a black stained maple forearm printed with a joker card over a black-and-grey card-suit background with a matching butt sleeve carrying the Mayhem logo. It uses the line's piloted 5/16x18 joint, 13.00mm hard rock maple shaft, linen wrap and stainless steel collar. Weight adjusts through the same swappable bolt in 18, 19, 20 or 21 ounces used across Mayhem. At about $180, it is out of stock at the moment; the product page shows current availability.

Mayhem Cue (MAY22)

The MAY22 carries the same joker and card-suit graphic as the MAY10 on a black stained maple forearm, despite the two SKUs sharing the printed name "Action MAY10 Mayhem Cue" in our system. It runs the same piloted 5/16x18 joint, 13.00mm shaft, linen wrap and stainless steel collar as the rest of the line. At about $240, the MAY22 is in stock now.

Mayhem Cue (MAY26)

The MAY26 forearm prints an evil leprechaun over alternating black and green four-leaf-clover squares, carried through to a matching butt sleeve with a red Mayhem logo. Joint, shaft, wrap and collar match the rest of the line, and weight adjusts across the same ounce range. We don't have a confirmed current price on file for the MAY26, and it is out of stock at the moment; see the product page for details.

Mayhem Cue (MAY28)

The MAY28 is the only Mayhem model built on a plain 5/16x18 joint rather than the piloted version, and the only one with a black composite collar instead of stainless steel. Its forearm carries a dead man's hand graphic on maple, and the butt sleeve pairs a skull with an eight ball, an ace and a checkered pattern. Shaft, wrap and weight-bolt range match the rest of the line. At about $150, it is out of stock at the moment; the product page shows current status.

How to choose within Action Mayhem

The MAY10, MAY22 and MAY26 use a piloted 5/16x18 joint, with a small guide pin that centers the shaft on the tenon before the threads catch, so it seats the same way every time you screw it together. The MAY28 uses a plain 5/16x18 joint with no pilot pin. Both are the same thread, so any standard 5/16x18 aftermarket shaft will fit either version, but matching a piloted cue specifically calls for a shaft or sleeve built with the pilot in mind, while the MAY28's plain tenon accepts a broader range of off-the-shelf 5/16x18 shafts without that extra fitting step.

Materials and construction, explained

Every Mayhem forearm and butt sleeve is a graphic overlay printed onto stained maple rather than a genuine inlay or a plain painted finish, the same construction Action uses on Garage: a playing-card and joker motif on the MAY10 and MAY22, a four-leaf-clover and evil-leprechaun design on the MAY26, and a skull, ace and dice motif on the MAY28. The wood underneath in every case is maple, stained black before the graphic goes on.

All four cues use a linen wrap, a tightly wound cord material Action uses on more than half of its catalog for the texture it adds under a sweaty or dry hand compared with a bare, wrapless grip. Three of the four use a stainless steel collar; the MAY28 uses a black composite collar instead, a plastic alternative that is lighter but less resistant to scuffing than steel. Every Mayhem cue also uses the same 1-inch fiber linen ferrule and WBACT swappable weight bolt found across the Action range, letting the weight shift between 18 and 21 ounces without changing shafts. Our glossary defines the ferrule, wrap and collar terms used throughout this page.

Joint, shaft and compatibility

Because all four Mayhem cues share the same 13.00mm classic wood shaft regardless of which joint they use, a replacement shaft from our shafts category in that size will fit any of them; just confirm whether your specific cue takes a plain or piloted 5/16x18 tenon before ordering a shaft built for one or the other. See our 5/16x18 joint and 13.00mm shaft size pages for every other cue on the site built to the same specs, and linen wrap to compare grip styles. Action's Adventure series runs the same 13.00mm classic wood shaft and mostly-linen-wrap build across a much larger selection if Mayhem's four models don't have what you're looking for.

Who Action Mayhem suits

We don't have player feedback or retailer positioning specific to the Mayhem name. Outside listings describe Action in similar terms: the brand is marketed to players of every level at affordable pricing, and separately placed in the $100-to-$300 range as a fit for a beginner moving up from a house cue, a budget-conscious intermediate, or a weekly league player. Mayhem's roughly $150-to-$240 band spans both sides of Action's own catalog-wide median price of about $130, so within this one series you can land on either side of that value-buyer positioning depending on which of the four models you pick.

Warranty and what to know before you buy

We don't have SKU-level warranty documentation for the MAY10, MAY22, MAY26 or MAY28 specifically. According to the manufacturer's own spec sheet, most of Action's warranty coverage sits under a broad "Limited" label, with a smaller share flagged "Limited-1 year," and neither exclusions nor a registration requirement are spelled out. One published listing goes further, advertising a 1-year warranty against defects across the whole Action range, though that duration has not been confirmed with the manufacturer for Mayhem specifically, so check current terms before you buy. What we can confirm is country of origin: every Action cue we've checked against the manufacturer's spec sheet, Mayhem included, lists China as where it's made.

What players say

We haven't found community discussion specific to the Mayhem line. AzBilliards forum threads on Action generally describe hit-and-miss build quality, with some cues playing well and others written off as duds, and one experienced player ranking the brand below Players and Elite cues while still crediting it with holding up to house-cue abuse. That's brand-wide sentiment, not feedback about Mayhem specifically, but it's the closest sourced context we have until Mayhem-specific feedback turns up.

You can browse the remaining Action models in our Action Pool Cues category, or compare the brand against everything else we carry in Quarter King's pool cues selection.
