    McDermott G230 pool cue

Amazing stick. Ordered it to start in a new local APA group and could not be happier. Feels like an extension of the arm, spot on balance and feel. Buy this cue!

  2. Sue W. –

    Not a women’s stick

Like the look, simple, blue/birds eye. Easy to spot when in claw at table. With carbon shaft, feels different than wood. Had a Lucky and wanted to stay with the McDermott 3/8 pin. Had to get used to unwrapped vs. linen. Have shown my pool buds this cue stick, nobody thought it looked feminine. I however, am not.

  3. Dave N. –

    Sapphire!

Named her Sapphire for the deep blue of her color. She has been a wonderful upgrade for me, helping me start to move off this plateau to the next level of my game.

  4. Ann E. –

Amazing stick for the price, I feel like I have so much more control of the cue stick ball, I can definitely tell a difference in my game.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBMCD, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the McDermott G230 Cue use?

It uses a 3/8X10 joint. That means any 3/8X10 shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 3/8X10 before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the McDermott G230 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The McDermott G230 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the McDermott G230 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is wrapless. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized McDermott dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized McDermott dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 3/8X10 joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
