Description

The Mezz Avant is a play cue butt built in Japan by Mezz. Its forearm is black composite wood, and the butt carries dragon Juma inlays, with violet, blue and orange options. The bumper is Mezz’s X-Bumper, which accepts Mezz extensions sold separately.

The butt is 29 inches (737mm) long and weighs 15 oz (435g). Its Dual Load System uses 8 different bolts, placed in the butt end and forearm, to adjust weight and balance at the same time in 0.25 oz increments. A joint protector and a hex key for the weight bolts are included, the weight bolt set is sold separately, and no extension or case comes with it.

Mezz makes Avant butts with either a United or a Wavy 2 joint, and with either a wood grip or an Irish linen grip, depending on the model. A limited warranty applies.

    Mezz for the Win!

Mezz has always made amazing products and this one is no exception. Great material, amazing DLS weight system, and the tried and true United Joint offer unparalleled customization while not sacrificing playability. Soon as a friend tried mine they ordered their own the next day.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBMEZZ, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

This model takes a weight-bolt system, so the weight and balance point can be tuned after purchase. Adding weight toward the butt moves the balance rearward for a more planted feel; less weight shifts it forward for a livelier stroke. The balance point on a finished cue usually sits about 18 to 19 inches from the butt.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Mezz Avant ZZAVN w/ Sigma Shaft - No Wrap use?

It uses a United joint. That means any United shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against United before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Mezz Avant ZZAVN w/ Sigma Shaft - No Wrap comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Mezz Avant ZZAVN w/ Sigma Shaft - No Wrap built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is wrapless. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized Mezz dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Mezz dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.
