Description

Matte blue sets this Heavy Hitter apart from the all-black version in the same jump and break line, though the working parts underneath are identical: a Turbo-Lock quick-release joint, a 13mm classic wood shaft, and no wrap on the handle. The name puts the weight at 25 ounces, well above a typical playing cue, which is the point for a cue meant to drive into a rack rather than finesse position play. Rage builds the Heavy Hitter series to cover both breaking and jumping, and the wrapless bare-wood grip is standard for that role rather than an oversight. At about $170 it is priced the same as its black, red, and silver siblings, and it is currently in stock. Pick whichever color matches your case or your other break cues, since the performance side stays the same across all four.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Rage Heavy Hitter 25 oz Jump/Break Cue - Matte Blue use?

It uses a quick-release; Turbo Lock joint. That means any quick-release; Turbo Lock shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against quick-release; Turbo Lock before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Rage Heavy Hitter 25 oz Jump/Break Cue - Matte Blue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Rage Heavy Hitter 25 oz Jump/Break Cue - Matte Blue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Rage Heavy Hitter 25 oz Jump/Break Cue - Matte Blue built for?

It is set up as a break, jump cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is wrapless. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.
