Description
The Joss Thor Hammer Rosewood is a break cue made in the USA by Joss Cues of Towson, Maryland, with East Indian rosewood, also called sonokeling, in the forearm, butt sleeve and collar. The handle is wrapless, black with maple bands, and the butt plate is black. A threaded rubber bumper sits at the end.
The shaft is 29 inch hard rock maple with a pro taper, a phenolic ferrule and a 13mm tip. The pin is a piloted 5/16×14, and the joint is phenolic, which Joss says is there to maximize energy transfer. Joss also builds the cue with full-core construction, which it says gives a solid, consistent feel similar to a one-piece cue.
It comes in two weights. The Light runs 18 to 19.5 oz and favors speed and acceleration, while the Heavy runs 20 to 21 oz and relies on additional mass for a more forceful hit, according to Joss. The weight is not adjustable afterward. No joint protectors, extension or case are included, and Joss backs the cue with its limited warranty.
