It uses a Turbo Lock joint. That means any Turbo Lock shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against Turbo Lock before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.
This cue ships with a 12.40mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.
The Pure X Carbon Fiber Jump Cue comes with a Carbon Fiber shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.
It is set up as a break, jump cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

This cue uses a Turbo-Lock joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
