Description

The Viking VIK285 is a grey playing cue with a grey stained Birdseye maple forearm. The butt sleeve is premium smoked pearl, the collar is black high impact modified acrylic with a thin silver ring, and the handle is wrapped in black Irish linen. A black butt plate of the same acrylic carries a silver Viking logo, and a black rubber bumper ends the butt.

The 29 inch maple shaft has a pro taper and a 1 inch Viking Super ferrule, and the tip is a 12.75mm Tiger Everest. The joint is Viking’s quick release pin; quick-release pins in general join and separate in fewer turns than a conventional threaded pin.

A weight bolt lets you adjust the weight, and the cue is offered in 18, 19, 20 and 21 oz. The cue arrives without an extension, case or joint protectors. It is made in the USA, and Viking backs it with its lifetime warranty.

    Terrific Site

Site is amazing with a huge selection good pricing and swift delivery.

    Am impressed by it!

Finest pool cue I’ve ever used it’s not flashy either (Hate the heavily decorated cues annoying players brag too much about them). The weight is solid thought that I wanted a 17 but 18 is doing excellent for me. The balance is pleasant it’s a solid 1 1/2′ shorter than my last cue and has made a large difference in my game. Not used to the linen handle (Last cue was graphite) but it suites me just fine. Definitely worth the money if you want a good cue don’t want to purchase a cheap cue and play all year around like I do.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBVIK, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

This model takes a weight-bolt system, so the weight and balance point can be tuned after purchase. Adding weight toward the butt moves the balance rearward for a more planted feel; less weight shifts it forward for a livelier stroke. The balance point on a finished cue usually sits about 18 to 19 inches from the butt.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Viking VIK285 Cue use?

It uses a Viking Quick Release joint. That means any Viking Quick Release shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against Viking Quick Release before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Viking VIK285 Cue?

This cue ships with a 12.75mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Viking VIK285 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Viking VIK285 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized K2 dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized K2 dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a Viking Quick Release joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
