The Balabushka GB09 Cue is a Balabushka playing cue sold by Quarter King Billiards. It has a 5/16X14 Piloted joint and a 13.00mm classic wood shaft. It lists at $1,629, with free shipping over $98 and 30-day returns.

Description

The GB09 rounds out a trio of black and tan cues in the Balabushka GB series alongside the GB05 and GB08, all three built on the same 5/16×14 piloted joint and 13mm classic wood shaft. Priced around $1630, it matches the GB05 dollar for dollar, so the choice between them comes down to model number and finish detail rather than how the cue hits. The linen wrap covers the handle in the same black and tan scheme, a two tone look that shows up more than once across the GB lineup. Balabushka cues carry the name of a legendary custom cue maker into a modern production line, and the GB09 keeps that connection front and center. It is in stock and ready to order.

    Balabushka cue

I bought one of these around 35 years ago – a GB- 6 that looks very similar to the GB-9 pictures here. Excellent cue stick. At that time the Balabushka line of cues were actually made by Helmstetter using the same locking joint. Excellent cues. It’s still my go to.

Weight & Balance

This cue is offered in WBBALA, Yes. A lighter cue is easier to accelerate for a whippy, spin-friendly stroke; a heavier cue plants more solidly and drives the cue ball with less effort. Most players settle between 19 and 20 ounces.

Questions about this cue

What joint does the Balabushka GB09 Cue use?

It uses a 5/16X14 Piloted joint. That means any 5/16X14 Piloted shaft will thread straight onto this butt, so you can add a spare or upgrade later without changing cues. If you are matching a shaft you already own, check its pin against 5/16X14 Piloted before ordering — joints are not cross-compatible.

What shaft diameter is the Balabushka GB09 Cue?

This cue ships with a 13.00mm shaft. Thinner shafts put more spin on the cue ball and feel crisper through the stroke; larger diameters feel fuller and are more forgiving on off-centre hits. Neither is better — it comes down to how you like the cue to hit.

Is this a carbon fiber or wood shaft cue?

The Balabushka GB09 Cue comes with a Classic Wood shaft. Carbon fiber will not warp, ignores humidity and deflects less; quality maple gives the traditional feel a lot of players still prefer. Both play at a high level, so pick the one that matches how you want the cue to feel.

What is the Balabushka GB09 Cue built for?

It is set up as a playing cue. Playing cues are balanced for control on shot-making, break cues are heavier with a harder tip for power transfer, and jump cues are short and light to get the cue ball airborne. Using the right one also protects your playing cue from break wear.

What kind of grip does it have?

The grip is linen wrap. Irish linen wicks sweat and stays tacky, leather is plush and premium, and a no-wrap finish is fast and needs no maintenance. If your hands run warm, linen is usually the safer pick.

Is Quarter King an authorized Balabushka dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized Balabushka dealer, so this cue is genuine and carries the full manufacturer warranty against warpage and defects in workmanship. Warranty claims go through us — you do not have to deal with the factory yourself.

How fast does it ship, and can I return it?

Shipping is free on orders over $98 in the contiguous US, $5.50 flat otherwise, and you get tracking as soon as it moves. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unchalked, unused product — contact us first for a return authorization so it is credited without delay. Because this one is over $600, a 10% restocking fee applies to the return.

Compatible Shafts

This cue uses a 5/16X14 Piloted joint, so these shafts thread straight onto it. Not sure? Send us the cue and we will confirm the fit before you buy.
