AVID Proof was developed in association with pro player Skyler Woodward, and Cuetec's own product copy frames the line in blunt terms: "Skyler Woodward's new AVID Proof series cues are just that, proof. Proof that competitive players can not only perform, but excel at the game's highest level." The design theme runs through the whole series: a look inspired by the bluegrass instruments and rich oak casks of Kentucky's distilleries. We carry all 4 Proof cues, two models each offered in a no-wrap and a Leather-Tec-wrap version: CT325NW and CT325LTC, and CT326NW and CT326LTC. All 4 are currently in stock, from about $400 up to about $450.
Cuetec's AVID shaft construction has roots back to 1989, when founding engineer Jones Chang brought a fiberglass and graphite cladding process over from tennis racket manufacturing. Proof's shaft carries a more refined version of that original idea forward: multiple thin glass-composite plies bonded to A-grade maple instead of the single fiberglass shell Cuetec used on its first eight cues, four fiberglass and four graphite.
Quarter King Billiards is an authorized Cuetec dealer, so every Proof cue we sell qualifies for Cuetec's manufacturer warranty once registered. Cuetec's exclusive U.S. partner, Imperial International, has handled that warranty program and Cuetec's dealer network since taking over the business in 2006. Cuetec lists its U.S. showroom at Carlstadt, New Jersey.
Proof uses the same player's choice of an 11.75mm, 12.25mm or 12.75mm AVID glass-bonded low-deflection shaft as the rest of the AVID line, built from thin plies of glass composite bonded to A-grade, kiln-dried hard maple. Every Proof cue we carry is tagged at 12.75mm, in Cuetec's Fiberglass shaft-type category, on the standard 3/8x14 joint pin.
That shaft carries Cuetec's Air Light front-end as well, bored out more than 10 inches from the tip to cut mass from the section that drives squirt, the sideways cue-ball deflection off an off-center hit, so the shaft tracks closer to where you aim.
Proof's forearm design draws on Kentucky's bluegrass instruments and the oak casks used at its bourbon distilleries, developed specifically in association with Skyler Woodward rather than adapted from an existing AVID pattern. It's a design choice layered on top of the standard AVID shaft, taper and Acueweight system rather than a change to how the cue plays.
Proof also carries the second-generation Acueweight system, Cuetec's fused butt cap design with cavity space for weighted spacers, so you can shift the balance point without a proprietary tool. Based on the specs we've checked across Cuetec's current lineup, a spacer system like this one shows up on nearly every AVID and Cynergy model, with only a few legacy cues built without it.
Proof's butt is built to Cuetec's AVID Level-Line taper, engineered specifically for the AVID platform rather than borrowed from Cynergy. Our own catalog specs for 12.75mm AVID cues show Proof pairing its shaft with a 12.75mm Tiger Everest tip, a thin white sighting ferrule and a stainless steel collar, the same setup used across most of Cuetec's 12.75mm AVID shafts. That reflects how Cuetec's engineers talk about the AVID platform as a whole: the laminated tip, the low-deflection shaft construction and the Level-Line taper were each designed to beat player expectations for the money, not just hit a cost target.
Of the 4 Proof cues we stock, 2 are wrapless and 2 carry Cuetec's Leather-Tec wrap, the same moisture-shedding leather finish Cuetec uses on its Opt-X series, giving you a choice between a bare maple handle and a leather grip on the identical cue and shaft. Our own color-attribute tagging splits the lineup evenly, Brown (4) and Black (4), tracking the CT325 and CT326 forearm finishes.
Proof is the only AVID series built specifically around a pro player's story rather than a color or graphic theme. The AVID Chroma series runs eight solid forearm colors, the AVID Era series keeps a traditional stained maple sneaky-pete look, and the AVID Opt-X series uses an original depth-illusion graphic under a Leather-Tec wrap. All four run the same player's-choice AVID shaft and Acueweight system underneath, so Proof's bluegrass-and-bourbon theme and Woodward tie-in are what set it apart, not the shaft performance. The AVID Surge series covers break and jump duty on that same AVID engineering, in case you want a matching break cue alongside a playing cue.
Proof's roughly $400-to-$450 price puts it at the top of Cuetec's AVID band, which spans about $260 up to about $450 across the AVID cues we carry, and it's still well under the Cynergy platform's roughly $500-to-$1,440 range. Cynergy earns that step up in price with a completely different build: an all carbon fiber composite cue and shaft made inside Cuetec's own Advanced Composites Division and developed with the direction of Shane Van Boening, whose input also shaped the Cynergy shaft Cuetec markets as the first carbon fiber playing shaft to capture a Men's WPA world title. Cuetec makes the same case in its AVID marketing, describing performance that "exceeds those of cues costing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars more." That description comes from Cuetec itself, not from an independent test. Of the four AVID sub-series in this batch, Chroma anchors the bottom of the price band and Proof tops it, with Era and Opt-X priced in the middle.
Cuetec's spec sheets list China as the manufacturing origin for Proof and the rest of the AVID line; warranty coverage follows the individual cue, not its factory of origin.
Every Proof cue we carry uses the standard 3/8x14 joint pin, matched to a 12.75mm shaft in Cuetec's fiberglass construction. Wrap-wise, the lineup splits evenly between wrapless and leather wrap versions of the same two models. Like the rest of the AVID line, Proof's shaft-to-butt joint runs through a stainless steel collar. If you need a spare AVID shaft, check our shafts category for compatible options.
Proof suits a competitive player drawn to its tie to Skyler Woodward, whose own story Cuetec frames as proof that a player can perform and excel at the sport's highest level on this cue. It carries the same AVID glass-bonded shaft as the rest of the line, the construction AZBilliards forum members describe with mixed opinions, some skeptical of the fiberglass-style coating, others reporting it plays well for the price once you've actually hit with a current shaft rather than judging the spec sheet alone, so weigh the Woodward story alongside how the shaft actually feels to you in hand. If Proof's story and AVID performance eventually have you looking at Cuetec's top tier, Cynergy is the step up: an all carbon fiber cue and shaft developed with the direction of Shane Van Boening, who has represented Cuetec since his debut at the 2009 BCA Expo in Las Vegas. Whichever of the two Proof models and two wrap options you pick, the underlying shaft, taper and balance system are identical, so the choice comes down to point-count style and whether you prefer a leather grip over a bare maple handle.
Proof carries Cuetec's Limited Lifetime Warranty once you register the cue on Cuetec's website within 60 days of purchase, buy it from an authorized dealer, and remain the original purchaser, since the warranty doesn't transfer if you sell the cue. Cuetec's coverage includes manufacturing and material defects, warpage included, and Cuetec verifies warpage by sighting the cue rather than rolling it across a flat surface. Tips, ferrules, rubber bumpers, finish and wrap material sit outside that coverage, and modifying or abusing the cue voids the warranty entirely. Per Cuetec's warranty page, buyers should not reach out to Cuetec or Imperial International on their own. Imperial handles U.S. defect resolution as Cuetec's agent, so a claim starts with the dealer who sold the cue. Because tips, ferrules and wrap material sit outside the warranty, expect Proof's Leather-Tec wrap and Tiger Everest tip to need eventual replacement as normal wear rather than a covered defect.
If Proof isn't the right fit, Cuetec's Sell Through Guarantee lets you return an unchalked, unused, non-shelf-worn current model for credit toward what you paid or a same-value replacement.
Proof runs the same AVID glass-composite shaft that splits opinion on AZBilliards. Some longtime players question the "fiberglass" description since it recalls Cuetec's older, less-loved shaft coatings, while others who've played a current AVID shaft describe the finish as thinner and slicker than the old coating and say it performs well for the price.

The joint is what decides whether a shaft fits, and every cue in Cuetec AVID Proof Cues uses the 3/8X14 pin. Match that pin on any replacement shaft, or ask us and we will confirm the fit.
