About Cuetec Cynergy Cues

About Cuetec's Cynergy platform

Cuetec has built cues since 1989, when Taiwanese engineer Jones Chang brought a fiberglass and graphite cladding process over from tennis racket manufacturing to launch the company's first line of eight cues through J-S Sales Co. of Mt. Vernon, New York. Imperial International acquired that original company in 2006 and has since managed Cuetec's U.S. warranty program and dealer network, with Cuetec's American base listed today as a showroom in Carlstadt, New Jersey.

Cynergy is Cuetec's carbon-fiber composite flagship, engineered and manufactured entirely inside Cuetec's in-house Advanced Composites Division rather than sourced from an outside shaft maker. Cuetec developed the platform with input and direction from five-time U.S. Open Champion Shane Van Boening, who has represented Cuetec since making his debut as a team player at the 2009 BCA Expo in Las Vegas. Cuetec markets the resulting shaft as the first carbon fiber playing shaft to capture a Men's WPA world title. We carry 38 Cynergy-family cues across six named lines, 31 in stock, priced from about $500 up to about $1,440.

Technology, in plain English

Built entirely inside Cuetec's Advanced Composites Division

Every Cynergy cue and shaft is engineered and constructed inside Cuetec's own ACD, a carbon-fiber composite production unit the company runs itself rather than outsourcing to a third-party shaft supplier. That in-house control is what ties the whole Cynergy family together across six otherwise very different-looking product lines.

The carbon fiber shaft and its WPA title claim

The Cynergy carbon fiber shaft is the one piece of technology shared across every cue in this family, regardless of whether the butt underneath is wood, leather-wrapped, or all-composite. Cuetec's own marketing credits it as the first carbon fiber playing shaft to capture a Men's WPA world title, a credential the company attaches to the shaft technology itself rather than to any single Cynergy line.

Clear-Tec epoxy resin finish

Two Cynergy lines, Truewood and SVB Gen II, share Cuetec's Clear-Tec epoxy resin finish, applied for increased stiffness and reduced vibration compared with a standard lacquer coat. The other four Cynergy lines use different finish and build approaches suited to their role, whether that's an all-composite playing cue or a dedicated break cue.

Shaft diameter and tip: 11.8mm and 12.5mm

The Cynergy playing-cue lines, Truewood, SVB Gen II, Cynergy X and Nineball, run the shaft in 11.8mm or 12.5mm, and based on our own catalog specs at those sizes, Cuetec pairs them with a Tiger Sniper tip sized to match. Breach and Propel break away from that pairing entirely, since a break cue and a jump cue need a harder-hitting tip rather than a playing tip: Breach runs a phenolic ferrule with a Taom 2.0 break and jump tip, and Propel is built around an oversized 13.9mm tip diameter instead.

The six Cynergy lines

Cynergy X

Cynergy X is Cuetec's all carbon-fiber-composite playing cue, zero wood construction, positioned as the most technologically advanced cue in the family and engineered specifically to get the most out of the Cynergy shaft. We carry 6 Cynergy X cues, all in stock, priced from about $1,380 up to about $1,440, the top of the Cynergy price range.

Truewood

Truewood goes the opposite direction from Cynergy X, wrapping a kiln-dried maple core in an exotic wood veneer instead of going all-composite, while still running the same Cynergy carbon fiber shaft. We carry all 15 Truewood cues, priced here from about $890 up to about $1,120.

SVB Gen II

SVB Gen II is designed under Shane Van Boening's direct input, with a relocated A-joint, the Clear-Tec finish, a full-grain leather wrap, and precision-cut rings inlaid with genuine abalone. We carry 5 SVB-category cues, priced from about $690 up to about $950.

Nineball

The Nineball Series is a co-branded line built around the tour-proven Cynergy carbon fiber shaft, developed with promoter Matchroom and themed around events like the Mosconi Cup and World Pool Championship. We carry all 3 Nineball colorways, each priced at about $815, in blue, black, red, green and grey finishes across the three listings.

Breach

Breach is Cuetec's dedicated Cynergy break cue, built around a 12.75mm carbon fiber composite break shaft with a stiffer filament orientation, a phenolic ferrule, and a Taom 2.0 break/jump tip. We carry both Breach colorways, each priced at about $749.

Propel

Propel is Cuetec's Cynergy jump cue, an all-composite build weighing about 11 ounces with its weighted extension attached and an oversized 13.9mm tip diameter, with carbon fiber used in both the shaft and the handle. We carry all 3 Propel colorways, each priced at about $509.

Cynergy vs. AVID

Cynergy's price band, from about $500 up to about $1,440, sits well above Cuetec's AVID platform, which runs from about $260 up to about $450 across its five lines. The difference comes down to the shaft: AVID uses a glass-composite ply bonded to kiln-dried maple, while every Cynergy line runs an all carbon-fiber composite shaft engineered inside Cuetec's own Advanced Composites Division, the platform Cuetec credits with the first carbon fiber playing shaft to capture a Men's WPA world title. If AVID's price point is what you're shopping, Cuetec doesn't offer a stripped-down Cynergy option at that price; the two platforms run genuinely different shaft technology rather than a good, better, best version of the same build.

Joint, shaft and compatibility

Across the 38 Cynergy-family cues we carry, all run a carbon fiber shaft. 24 use Cuetec's standard 3/8x14 joint, and 14 use the 21.3mm Cynergy-spec variant of that same thread. Shaft diameter splits mostly between 12.50mm (31 listings) and 11.80mm (17 listings), with a few Propel jump cues at 13.90mm and a couple of AVID crossover listings at 12.75mm. Most, 21 of 38, are wrapless; 12 add a leather wrap, 3 a PU wrap, and 2 a linen wrap. If you need a spare or backup Cynergy shaft, our shafts category is the place to match joint and diameter before you buy. Cuetec's own spec sheets list China as the country of origin across the catalog, a fact that doesn't change warranty coverage, which follows the cue rather than the factory it was built in.

Who it suits and how it plays

Cynergy is built for a player who wants Cuetec's carbon fiber shaft technology as the core of the cue, whether that means an all-composite Cynergy X, a wood-veneer Truewood, a signature SVB Gen II, or a purpose-built Breach or Propel for the break and jump shots. Cuetec's own history and independent player reviews both point to the same two moments that define the brand: the original 1989 fiberglass-and-graphite-clad maple cues, and more recently this Cynergy carbon fiber shaft, which some AZBilliards reviewers describe as playing close to a low-deflection maple shaft with strong energy transfer. Across the 38 Cynergy-family cues we carry, 33 are built and tagged as playing cues, 3 as jump cues and 2 as break cues, and our color-attribute tagging runs mostly black (14) and red (8), with grey, brown, blue, tan, white, orange and green rounding out the rest depending on the line and finish.

Warranty and what to know before you buy

Every cue across the six Cynergy lines carries Cuetec's Limited Lifetime Warranty, activated by registering the cue on Cuetec's website within 60 days of purchase. Coverage runs only to the original purchaser and isn't transferable if you sell the cue, and it requires the cue to have come from an authorized Cuetec dealer, which we are. The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects, warpage included, which Cuetec checks by sighting the cue rather than rolling it, but it excludes normal wear items, tips, ferrules, rubber bumpers, finish, and wraps or grips, and it's void if the cue has been modified or abused. Rather than contacting Cuetec or Imperial International on your own, start any claim with the dealer who sold you the cue. Cuetec's separate Sell Through Guarantee lets you return an unchalked, unused, non-shelf-worn, current-model Cynergy cue you can't resell, for credit or a same-value replacement.

What players say

The Cynergy shaft draws a genuinely mixed reaction on the AZBilliards forums, and it's worth knowing about before you commit to any of the six lines built around it. Some posters describe it as playing close to a low-deflection maple shaft, with better energy transfer off the tip than the maple low-deflection shafts they'd tried previously. Others in the same threads call it "whippy," reporting more flex and less stability than shafts like the Predator Revo, and say they notice more deflection testing it side by side. Since every Cynergy line runs this same shaft underneath a different butt, that split opinion applies just as much to a $509 Propel jump cue as it does to a $1,440 Cynergy X, since the shaft technology under discussion in those forum threads is the same across every price point in this family.

Cynergy is one of 13 series inside our Cuetec Pool Cues lineup. If you'd rather start below Cynergy's price range, Cuetec's AVID cues run a glass-composite maple shaft instead of carbon fiber at a lower cost, and our full pool cues selection covers everything else we carry.
