About Meucci Casino Cues

About Meucci

Meucci's roots go back further than the Meucci Originals brand most players know. Bob Meucci formed B.M.C. (Bob Meucci Customs) in Glenview, Illinois, in 1969, which many collectors consider the first true Meucci company, six years before Meucci Originals, Inc. opened in Olive Branch, Mississippi, in 1975. Manufacturing has run out of Byhalia, Mississippi, near Memphis, Tennessee, since 2006, and every cue is made in the USA. Bob Meucci stepped back from daily ownership in 2022 but remains involved as a designer and ambassador.

The BMC name still shows up today: Meucci's current Casino Series collection is sold under the BMC Casino label, a direct line back to that 1969 company.

Technology, in Plain English

The Pro Shaft

Four of the seven Casino cues we carry use the Classic Wood Pro Shaft; Meucci describes it as a single piece of solid hard rock maple with a full 14-inch Pro Taper, built for low effective deflection.

The Carbon Pro Shaft

The other three Casino cues we stock use a Carbon Fiber shaft. Meucci's Carbon Pro Shaft uses multi-directional carbon fiber filaments, described as creating a homogenous spine, wrapped around a polyurethane foam core and plugged with maple at both ends. Meucci says this construction gives a warm sound and feel without the hollow clinking noise some carbon shafts have, on a 15-inch Pro Taper with a 1/2-inch ferrule. For a player choosing between the two Casino shaft options, the practical difference is less about deflection, since Meucci designs both for a low-deflection hit, and more about hand feel and sound at impact: the Classic Wood Pro Shaft gives the traditional solid-maple response, while the Carbon Pro is built specifically so it doesn't sound or feel hollow the way some other brands' carbon shafts do.

The Kielwood Upgrade Path

Meucci also sells a Kielwood version of the Pro Shaft beyond the two options represented in our current Casino stock. It is hard maple that has gone through torrefaction, which Meucci says gives it superior strength and a stiffer hit than the standard Pro Shaft, while keeping the same low-deflection design.

The Lineup

We carry seven cues in the Casino line: MECAS09W, MECAS03, MECAS05, MECAS06, MECAS08, and MECAS09B, all priced at about $1,475, plus MECAS10 at about $1,520. Meucci markets the collection as cues "inspired by the allure of the casino," built around "intricate details and high-quality craftsmanship." Five of our seven Casino cues currently show in stock, and the line carries strong color variety: black, white, blue, green, pink, red, gold, purple, yellow, tan, and multicolor finishes all appear across the seven cues. The Casino line also sits at the top of Meucci's price range in our catalog: our overall Meucci price band runs from about $175 up to about $1,520 with a median near $950, and every Casino cue we carry is priced above that median.

The Models We Carry

MECAS03, about $1,480

MECAS03 pairs an ebony-colored Power Piston forearm inlaid with four blue paua shell points framed in white with a butt sleeve built around a 4-card royal flush over a 48-piece blue paua shell sleeve trimmed in white, bordered by paua shell dice set against silver-colored rectangles, a motif repeated again in the joint collar. It runs the 12.50mm Classic Wood Pro Shaft, a 1/2 inch hydraulic ferrule, a 12.5mm Ultra Skin Medium tip and Meucci's 5/16x18 joint. Card sleeve suit is buyer-selectable. See the Meucci MECAS03 cue listing for stock and photos.

MECAS05, MECAS06 and MECAS08, about $1,480 each

These three share the MECAS03 Power Piston forearm platform and 12.50mm Classic Wood Pro Shaft, each dressed in a different stone color: MECAS05 in purple paua shell over an imitation-ivory composite sleeve, MECAS06 in paua shell over an antique-stained maple forearm, and MECAS08 in gold paua shell over a black Power Piston forearm. All three carry the same royal-flush-and-dice butt sleeve motif and buyer-selectable card suit as the rest of the line. Full detail is on the MECAS05, MECAS06 and MECAS08 pages.

MECAS09B and MECAS09W, about $1,480 each

Both share the same design, an ebony Power Piston forearm with four light pink paua shell points divided by paua shell suit lines, and differ only in the Black or White finish named in their SKUs, matching the two color options Meucci lists for the current BMC Casino 9. Our system records the shaft on these two as a Carbon Fiber type, built on what our attributes call a Special build Pro Shaft platform, at a 12.50mm size with a white polycarbonate ferrule rather than the hydraulic ferrule used on the Classic Wood Casino cues. See the MECAS09B and MECAS09W listings.

MECAS10, about $1,520

MECAS10 tops the line with an ebony-colored Power Piston forearm accented by four mother-of-pearl points and lines, a matching mother-of-pearl butt sleeve, and the same Carbon Fiber shaft type and white polycarbonate ferrule as the two Casino 9 color SKUs. Card sleeve suit is buyer-selectable here as well. Full detail is on the Meucci MECAS10 cue page.

How to Choose Between the Casino Shafts

Four of our seven Casino cues, MECAS03, MECAS05, MECAS06 and MECAS08, ship with Meucci's Classic Wood Pro Shaft, a single piece of solid hard rock maple with a 14 inch taper that gives the traditional, slightly softer response players expect from a maple shaft. The other three, MECAS09B, MECAS09W and MECAS10, are built on Meucci's carbon fiber platform instead. Meucci's own description of that construction is multi-directional carbon fiber filaments wrapped around a polyurethane foam core and plugged with maple at both ends, a build the company says is meant to avoid the hollow, clinking sound some carbon shafts have while still keeping the shaft's low-deflection performance. A player who already knows and likes the feel of a solid-maple shaft has no reason to look past MECAS03 through MECAS08; a player curious about carbon fiber but put off by a tinny-sounding hit on other brands is the more natural fit for MECAS09B, MECAS09W or MECAS10.

Joint, Shaft, and Compatibility

All seven Casino cues use Meucci's 5/16x18 wood-to-wood joint, matching 49 of the 54 Meucci products we carry. The shaft splits by model: four use the 12.50mm Classic Wood Pro Shaft and three use the Carbon Fiber Pro shaft, both also at 12.50mm in our catalog. See the 5/16x18 joint, 12.50mm shaft, Classic Wood, and Carbon Fiber pages for other cues sharing these specs, or our shafts category for spares.

Materials and Construction, Explained

Paua shell is the material behind nearly every Casino cue's color story. It is an abalone-family shell from New Zealand waters, cut into thin pieces for cue inlay work because of the iridescent blue, purple, pink and green shift it shows under light depending on the angle, which is why the same Casino design can be sold in several stone colors just by swapping the shell used. Mother-of-pearl, used on MECAS10, is a related material, the pearly inner shell layer of certain mollusks, chosen for a softer, whiter shine rather than the color-shifting effect paua gives.

The Power Piston forearm that most Casino cues share is not solid wood. Meucci builds it as a thin sleeve of high-impact plastic over a maple dowel, colored black or ivory depending on the model, a design the company also uses on its dedicated Power Piston line and several Hall of Fame builds.

Wrap-wise, the Casino line uses Meucci's lacquered and urethane-coated Irish linen finishes rather than a bare or pressed wrap, which keeps the woven texture visible under a hard, glossy topcoat that resists the wear a plain linen wrap would show faster. See our cue glossary for definitions of ferrule, taper and other cue-building terms used across this page.

Who It Suits

The Casino line pairs Meucci's usual low-effort playing feel, built from its wood-to-wood joint and Pro Shaft design, with the brand's most decorative case-and-collector-style inlay work. Meucci frames the overall design as delivering power and spin with less physical strain, describing it as "just a natural transfer of energy that lets you do more with less strain." Players drawn to the Casino line are typically buying it as much for the card-and-dice styling as for the shaft feel underneath it.

Warranty and What to Know Before You Buy

Casino cues carry Meucci's standard Limited 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty from the date of purchase, covering defects in materials and workmanship, with repair, replacement, or refund at Meucci's discretion. It applies only to the original purchaser with proof of purchase and excludes warping in wood parts, normal wear on the tip, ferrule, finish, wrap, and bumper, and damage from misuse or unauthorized changes. Because counterfeit cues bearing the Meucci name exist, Meucci recommends buying direct from the factory or through an Authorized Dealer to be sure of authenticity. Quarter King Billiards is an authorized Meucci dealer, and Casino cues purchased here register through Meucci's dealer-warranty portal rather than the direct-purchase portal used for meuccicues.com orders.

What Players Say

Meucci's current Pro Team, per its own site, includes Tyler Styer, a two-time Team USA Mosconi Cup champion, six-time Mosconi Cup player Billy Thorpe, Tony Chohan, Kaylee McIntosh Driskell, LoreeJon Brown, Mike Massey, Corey Deuel, Eric Roberts, and Jonathan Pinegar, a roster that represents the brand across its full catalog rather than the Casino line specifically. Meucci's shaft feel is debated on the AZBilliards forums: some players like the shaft's traditional character, describing it as a bit whippy next to stiffer modern shafts, while players used to ultra-low-deflection carbon cues say it won't be for them. Other threads raise concerns about build-quality consistency compared with Meucci's earlier decades. This is community opinion, not a manufacturer statement.

Feedback on the Casino line specifically runs long on the AZBilliards forums. Posters consistently call the series, and the Casino 10 in particular, stunning-looking cues, and one long-time collector who owns a Casino 10 with both the Kielwood and standard Pro shaft said the Pro shaft feels a bit dead on that model compared with the Kielwood option. A separate poster reported their Casino 10, ordered with a matching extension, arrived about 2mm thicker than the butt and would not fit four of their cue cases, and recommended contacting Meucci directly before ordering. Against that, several other collectors in the same thread who each own a dozen or more Meucci cues, including multiple Casino models, said they have never run into a build problem.
