Meucci's Economy Series is the brand's most affordable line in our catalog: two cues, both priced at $620 and both currently in stock. Meucci's current site sells these as individual "Economy Cure" models rather than a dedicated series collection, but we group them together here since they share the same build and price point. Full specs and warranty details are below.
Quarter King Billiards is an authorized Meucci dealer. Free shipping on orders over $98 (contiguous US) and 30-day returns. Every spec on this page is checked against the manufacturer's published data by our Wilmington, NC store team.
Meucci doesn't sell these two cues as a labeled "Economy Series" collection on its current site. Instead they're listed individually as "Economy Cure" models, EC-7 and EC-8 in Meucci's own naming. At $620 each, they're Meucci's least expensive cues in our catalog, well under the $1,225-and-up 2020 and 21st Century lines and the $1,475-and-up Casino series, though still built at the same Byhalia, Mississippi shop and made in the USA like every other Meucci cue. Meucci has offered an entry-priced line since at least the company's move to its modern form in 1975, when Meucci Originals opened in Olive Branch, Mississippi, continuing work Bob Meucci started in 1960 out of his father's tool-and-die shop near Chicago.
Meucci's own product description for the EC-7 highlights a straight-grain maple forearm and matching butt sleeve, joined with what the company calls "the traditional wood-to-wood joint" for "a solid feel and great accuracy." That's the same fundamental joint design used across the rest of the Meucci catalog, just without the Paua shell, cocobolo, or card-suit inlay work that drives up the price on series like the 2020 or Gambler lines. Meucci describes that wood-to-wood joint as producing a smoother, lower-effort hit regardless of price tier.
Both Economy Series cues in our system are logged with Carbon Fiber shafts at 12.50mm, matching Meucci's Carbon Pro construction of multi-directional carbon fiber filaments wrapped around a foam core and plugged with maple at both ends. That means the "Economy" name applies to the cosmetic build and price, not to shaft engineering. It's the same shaft type used on two of the three cues in the pricier 21st Century Series, and considerably more shaft technology than the name alone might suggest.
The standard fit across Meucci's broader catalog is a 12.5mm Ultra Skin Medium tip over a 1/2-inch hydraulic ferrule, and that's consistent with the straight-grain, no-frills build Meucci describes for the EC-7 and EC-8.
Both the MEEC07P and MEEC07R are priced identically at $620 and share the straight-grain maple build described above, differing mainly in cosmetic detail rather than construction. Our color-tag data logs grey twice across the two cues, with red and white each appearing once. Both currently show as in stock, unlike several of Meucci's pricier, more heavily inlaid series where availability runs thinner.
Both cues in this lineup, the MEEC07P and the MEEC07R, price out at about $620 and share the identical straight-grain maple forearm and butt sleeve, wood-to-wood joint, and 5/16x18 pin, differing only in accent veneer color, purple on the P and red on the R. Meucci’s current site also sells a third Economy model, the Economy Cure 8, at the same $620 price with a green-and-black diamond motif and a green wrap flecked in white, though we don’t currently carry that particular finish. Both ship with a 1/2-inch polycarbonate ferrule and a 12.5mm Ultra Skin Medium tip, and both currently show as in stock. Per our own product records, the purple-veneer MEEC07P and red-veneer MEEC07R each carry four cream-colored diamond points on the butt sleeve, echoed by a smaller matching diamond centered in each point, a geometric motif that reads plainer than the suit-and-card work on Meucci’s Gambler line. Both also use a cream collar detailed with black checkers rather than a plain solid collar, and both close out with the same push-in rubber bumper Meucci fits across most of its catalog. Because both cues share identical shaft, joint and ferrule construction, the choice between the MEEC07P and MEEC07R comes down to which veneer color you prefer, purple or red, rather than any difference in playing feel.
Our own catalog lists weight as changeable on both Economy cues, which on a current Meucci cue means the same Everlock weight-bolt system built into the 2020 and Gambler lines, giving a player room to add or remove a few ounces without a shop visit.
The maple used across Meucci’s Economy line comes from the same domestic hardwood stock the company uses for its pricier Pro Shaft, so choosing the affordable end of the catalog does not mean stepping down to a different wood species, only to a plainer finish with less inlay work.
Both Economy shafts are recorded in our catalog as 12.50mm Carbon Fiber, the same diameter and material logged on two of the three 21st Century cues covered on that series page, so if that shaft-material discrepancy against Meucci’s current build sheet actually reflects the units we received, an Economy cue would be carrying the same upgraded shaft as a cue costing more than double its price. Either way, both Economy cues arrive with the same 5/16x18 pin as the rest of Meucci’s current catalog, so a shaft swap between an Economy cue and a pricier Meucci down the road stays a straightforward option.
Straight-grain maple, the wood used for both the forearm and butt sleeve here, is chosen because a straight, tight grain pattern resists warping better than figured woods like birdseye or curly maple, which is one reason it shows up on Meucci’s plainer, lower-priced lines rather than the more decorative Casino or Gambler cues.
The wood-to-wood joint pairing the shaft and butt directly, without a metal sleeve or bushing in between, is the same fundamental design Meucci uses across its full catalog, and the company credits it for the smooth, lower-effort hit that defines the brand regardless of price tier.
The Irish linen wrap fitted to both Economy cues, described on Meucci’s own site simply as a coated wrap, is the traditional handle material on a two-piece cue, valued for absorbing hand moisture over a long session and for holding up to years of play without needing replacement.
Pairing a polycarbonate ferrule with the 12.5mm Ultra Skin Medium tip used here lets the tip transmit cue-ball spin without the ferrule itself flexing or cracking, the same pairing Meucci uses on cues costing twice as much, which is part of why the Economy name describes the finish work rather than the core hitting components.
The 0.5-inch polycarbonate ferrule ahead of the tip resists cracking under repeated impact and skips the periodic care an older-style ivory ferrule would need. Our glossary covers ferrule, joint and wrap terminology in more depth.
Both Economy Series cues use Meucci's standard 5/16x18 joint pin, a 12.50mm shaft, and a Linen Wrap handle. If you'd rather compare against Meucci's maple Classic Wood cues, which make up most of the rest of the brand's lineup, or want to buy a Carbon Pro or Pro Shaft on its own, our full shafts category carries both constructions separately from a complete cue.
At $620, the Economy Series is the most accessible way into a brand built around the same wood-to-wood joint and low-effort power transfer Meucci designs its $1,000-plus cues around. It suits a player who wants to try Meucci's playing feel and Carbon Fiber shaft construction without committing to the price of the inlay-heavy Casino, Hall of Fame or Gambler series, all of which run well over $900.
The Economy Series carries the same coverage as every other Meucci cue: a Limited 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, running from the date of purchase, valid for the original buyer only with proof of purchase, and non-transferable. It excludes wood warpage, ordinary wear on the tip, ferrule, finish, wrap or bumper, misuse damage, unauthorized modification, and extreme temperature or humidity exposure. Quarter King Billiards sells as an Authorized Meucci Dealer, so your purchase registers through Meucci's dealer-warranty portal rather than the separate direct-purchase portal Meucci uses for sales made on its own site, and buying through an authorized channel is what Meucci itself points to as the surest defense against the counterfeit Meucci cues it warns circulate in the market. Our own catalog data lists weight as changeable on the EC-7 and EC-8, and neither ships with a case or joint protectors included, so budget for a case separately at this price point just as you would on any other Meucci cue.
We don't have Economy-specific forum commentary, but general sentiment on Meucci's shafts from the AZBilliards forums is worth weighing against the Carbon Fiber build here: some players favor the traditional, slightly whippy feel of Meucci's older maple shafts and specifically seek that out, while players chasing a stiff, ultra-low-deflection hit are more likely to find what they want in a Carbon Fiber build like this one. A few threads also raise general concerns about build quality slipping compared with Meucci's earlier decades, which is worth factoring into an entry-priced line like this one just as much as any other Meucci series.

Meucci's own description of the EC-7 highlights a straight-grain maple forearm and butt sleeve joined with the brand's traditional wood-to-wood joint.
Both cues in this series, the MEEC07P and MEEC07R, are priced at $620, making it Meucci's most affordable line in our catalog.
Our data lists both as 12.50mm Carbon Fiber shafts, the same construction Meucci uses on several higher-priced series.
Yes, the same Limited 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty against manufacturing defects applies, valid for the original purchaser with proof of purchase.
Yes. Meucci’s current site also lists an Economy Cure 8 at the same $620 price, though we don’t currently stock that specific finish.
