About Meucci Hall of Fame Cues

About Meucci

Meucci Cues traces back to 1960, when Bob Meucci began building cues out of his father's tool-and-die shop near Chicago. The modern company opened in 1975 as Meucci Originals, Inc., in Olive Branch, Mississippi, and has manufactured in Byhalia, Mississippi, near Memphis, Tennessee, since 2006. Every cue, this line included, is made in the USA. Bob Meucci himself has a Hall of Fame credential of his own, separate from this product line: in 2006 he was inducted into the International Cuemakers Hall of Fame, credited with setting the modern standard for cuemaking through high-precision metal lathes and for being among the first cuemakers to sell a cue for a five-figure price. Bob Meucci stepped back from day-to-day ownership in 2022 and continues as a designer and brand ambassador.

Technology, in Plain English

The Pro Shaft

Every Hall of Fame cue we carry uses the Classic Wood Pro Shaft at 12.50mm. Meucci describes this as a single piece of solid hard rock maple with a full 14-inch Pro Taper, built for low effective deflection.

The Kielwood Upgrade Path

Meucci also sells a Kielwood version of the Pro Shaft as a stiffer alternative to the standard Classic Wood shaft used across this line. It is hard maple that has gone through torrefaction, which Meucci says gives it superior strength and a firmer hit than the standard Pro Shaft, while keeping the same low-deflection design.

Wood-to-Wood Joint

All eight cues use the 5/16x18 wood-to-wood joint. Meucci credits this joint, together with the Pro Shaft and a lightweight ferrule, for the brand's low-effort playing feel, describing it as letting a player generate power and spin "with less effort."

The Lineup

MEHOF01 and MEHOF02, about $840

These are the entry-priced builds in the line, both around $840.

MEHOF04 and its suit variants, about $950

MEHOF04 is sold in five additional versions at the same $950 price as the base model: Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Jokers, and Spades. Each carries the same joint and shaft spec as the rest of the line; the suit name marks a different inlay pattern rather than a different build. Meucci markets the wider Hall of Fame Series as "celebrating legendary players and historical designs," naming the Road Agent and Giant Killer as examples of cues in the collection; those two specific names are not among the eight SKUs we currently stock, but they illustrate how Meucci frames this series generally. Six of our eight Hall of Fame cues currently show in stock. Color-wise, the line leans heavily on black and white finishes, seven cues each, with single examples in brown, gold, yellow, tan, and multicolor rounding out the range. The Hall of Fame line also sits below the middle of Meucci's overall price band in our catalog, which runs from about $175 up to about $1,520 with a median near $950.

The Models We Carry

MEHOF01, about $840

MEHOF01 is built on a stained birdseye maple forearm with four ebony-colored points outlined in blue, green and brown veneers, an ivory-colored chain-link-ring shaft collar, and a butt sleeve made up of six ivory-colored windows set between ivory-colored chain-link rings top and bottom, closed off by a black composite butt plate with a silver Meucci logo. It runs the 12.50mm Classic Wood Pro Shaft, a 1/2 inch hydraulic ferrule, a 12.5mm Ultra Skin Medium tip and the 5/16x18 joint. See the Meucci MEHOF01 Hall of Fame cue page for current stock.

MEHOF02, about $840

MEHOF02 uses the same birdseye maple base with four ivory-colored points outlined in blue veneers, a shaft collar of stained birdseye maple with blue-stained maple boxes set inside ivory-colored rings, and an ebony-colored butt sleeve with a thick ring of stained birdseye maple bordered by black stained maple and silver rings. Shaft, ferrule, tip and joint match MEHOF01. Full detail is on the Meucci MEHOF02 Hall of Fame cue page.

MEHOF04 and its Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Jokers and Spades variants, about $950 each

The MEHOF04 family steps up to Meucci's Power Piston forearm, a black high-impact plastic sleeve over a maple dowel, paired with a black Irish linen wrap and an ebony-colored butt sleeve carrying playing-card and dice inlays, per Meucci's own description of the current Hall of Fame 4. Our catalog lists the base build alongside five suit-named color variants, Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Jokers and Spades, all priced the same and built to the same spec; the suit name marks the inlay pattern rather than a different construction. See the Meucci MEHOF04 Hall of Fame cue page for the base build.

Joint, Shaft, and Compatibility

All eight Hall of Fame cues use Meucci's 5/16x18 joint and 12.50mm Classic Wood shaft, the same spec used on 49 of the 54 Meucci products we carry. See the 5/16x18 joint and 12.50mm shaft pages, or browse our shafts category for spares in this size.

Materials and Construction, Explained

Birdseye maple carries MEHOF01 and MEHOF02, the small swirling grain figure in the wood standing in for decorative inlay work rather than needing it. The colored veneers set into each cue's points, blue, green and brown on MEHOF01 and blue on MEHOF02, are thin sheets of dyed wood laid into the point seams, a cuemaking technique that adds a hard color line between wood sections without weakening the joint the way a wider inlay channel might.

The ivory-colored composite used for the chain-link rings and sleeve windows on both cues is a synthetic material rather than real ivory, chosen because it machines cleanly into thin ring and window shapes and holds a bright white-cream color that will not yellow the way older celluloid substitutes did.

MEHOF04 and its five suit variants trade that wood-and-veneer build for Meucci's Power Piston forearm, the same thin plastic-over-maple-dowel construction used on the brand's dedicated Power Piston line, finished in black under a black Irish linen wrap rather than the coated linen used on MEHOF01 and MEHOF02. For definitions of forearm, ferrule and other terms on this page, see our cue glossary.

Both HOF01 and HOF02 use Meucci's Everlock weight bolt system, a threaded weight fitted into the butt end that a technician can swap for a heavier or lighter one to shift the cue's balance without altering the outside of the cue at all. It is the same adjustment system Meucci fits across most of its production line, which is part of why a player moving between Hall of Fame models and other Meucci cues does not need to relearn how the balance point feels.

Who It Suits

Meucci frames its overall cue design, wood-to-wood joint plus Pro Shaft, as built for a smoother, lower-effort hit rather than the stiffest possible carbon-shaft feel, calling it "just a natural transfer of energy that lets you do more with less strain." A player who wants the suit-and-card styling of the Hall of Fame line along with that traditional Meucci feel is the target buyer here.

Warranty and What to Know Before You Buy

The Hall of Fame line carries Meucci's standard Limited 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, with repair, replacement, or refund at Meucci's discretion. Coverage applies only to the original purchaser with proof of purchase and excludes wood warpage, ordinary wear on the tip, ferrule, finish, wrap, and bumper, and damage from misuse or unauthorized changes. Meucci says the surest way to know a cue is genuine, given counterfeit Meucci cues in the market, is to buy direct from the factory or through an Authorized Dealer. Quarter King Billiards is an authorized Meucci dealer, and Hall of Fame cues bought here register through Meucci's dealer-warranty portal.

What Players Say

Meucci's current Pro Team, per its own site, includes Tyler Styer, Billy Thorpe, Tony Chohan, Kaylee McIntosh Driskell, LoreeJon Brown, Mike Massey, Corey Deuel, Eric Roberts, and Jonathan Pinegar, a roster that represents the brand across its whole catalog rather than the Hall of Fame line specifically. Meucci's shaft feel splits opinion on the AZBilliards forums: some players specifically like its traditional character, calling it a bit whippy next to stiffer modern shafts, while players who prefer ultra-low-deflection carbon shafts say it isn't for them. Some threads also raise concerns about build-quality consistency compared with earlier Meucci decades. This is player opinion, not a manufacturer statement.

The wider Hall of Fame Series has a following on the AZBilliards forums beyond the models we currently stock. One seller listing for a Meucci HOF-6, a different Hall of Fame model with a nighttime city-skyline inlay Meucci calls the City Lights design, described it as having that classic Meucci hit with great looks and called it a head-turner at the table. That listing is for a different SKU than the four we carry, but it shows the range of collector designs Meucci has released under the Hall of Fame name beyond the card-and-dice motif on MEHOF04.
