About Cuetec Pool Cues
Cuetec's two cue platforms
Cuetec builds every pool cue in this category on one of two platforms. AVID is the entry and enthusiast line: a glass-composite shaft, built in multiple thin plies bonded to A-grade, kiln-dried hard maple, engineered to raise the shaft's stiffness while keeping a wood-like feel. Cynergy is the flagship line: an all carbon fiber composite cue and shaft, engineered and manufactured entirely inside Cuetec's in-house Advanced Composites Division and developed with the input and direction of five-time U.S. Open champion Shane Van Boening.

The technology behind the numbers
AVID's low-deflection shaft
AVID's glass-bonded construction is paired with what Cuetec calls an Air Light front-end, boring the shaft out more than 10 inches from the tip. Less mass at the tip end means less of the sideways cue ball deflection, or squirt, that comes off an imperfectly centered hit. AVID cues also use the second-generation Acueweight system, a fused butt cap design with cavity space for weighted spacers, so a player can shift the balance point without a proprietary tool. The butt taper on every AVID cue, Cuetec calls it the Level-Line taper, was engineered specifically for this platform rather than adapted from Cynergy, and Cuetec built the whole package, shaft to taper, with the stated goal of performing ahead of its price point.
Cynergy's carbon fiber composite
Cynergy skips the wood core entirely. Cuetec markets its Cynergy shaft as the first carbon fiber playing shaft to capture a Men's WPA world title, and the whole Cynergy family, cues and shafts alike, is built inside the same in-house composites division rather than assembled from outside parts. Cuetec developed the platform with the input and direction of Shane Van Boening rather than licensing a carbon fiber process from an outside supplier.
Cuetec's own spec sheets list China as the country of origin for the cues in both platforms. That doesn't change warranty coverage, which follows the cue rather than the factory, provided you bought it from an authorized dealer and registered it on Cuetec's site within 60 days.

Cuetec AVID Era Cues
Era is Cuetec's sneaky-pete-styled AVID cue, built from A-grade kiln-dried, vacuum-sealed hard maple with the same player's choice of AVID shaft diameters. We stock all 8 Era colorways, including a signature model tied to player Florian Kohler, running from about $310 up to about $370.
Cuetec AVID Opt-X Cues
Opt-X is built around original graphic designs that create an illusion of depth in the forearm, wrapped in a moisture-shedding Leather-Tec grip, again on the player's choice of AVID shaft. All 6 colorways are in stock, from about $390 up to about $430.
Cuetec AVID Proof Cues
Proof was developed in association with pro player Skyler Woodward, styled around Kentucky bluegrass instruments and bourbon-cask oak. All 4 colorways, split between no-wrap and Leather-Tec-wrap options, are in stock from about $400 up to about $450.

Cuetec Propel Cues
Propel is Cynergy's dedicated jump cue: all-composite construction, about 11 ounces with its weighted extension attached, and an oversized 13.9mm tip, and carbon fiber running through both the shaft and the main handle rather than just the shaft. Cuetec Truewood Cues
Truewood II wraps a kiln-dried Canadian maple core in exotic veneers, Ebony, Walnut, Leopard, Sycamore and Mappa Burl among them, finished with Cuetec's Clear-Tec epoxy resin and precision-cut Truewood Shield rings, on the player's choice of Cynergy 11.8mm or 12.5mm carbon shaft. Joint, shaft and compatibility
Across the 72 cues in this category, 43 use a standard 3/8x14 joint pin and 29 use the 21.3mm Cynergy variant of that pin. On shaft diameter, the most common sizes are 12.50mm (31) and 12.75mm (28), followed by 11.80mm (17), with smaller runs at 14.00mm (4), 13.00mm (4) and 13.90mm (3). Shaft material splits 40 carbon fiber to 32 fiberglass, tracking the Cynergy/AVID divide above. Who these cues suit
The AVID platform is Cuetec's own answer to players who want a low-deflection shaft without paying Cynergy prices. Cuetec markets AVID's performance as matching cues that cost hundreds or thousands more, its own claim rather than an independent test, but the Air Light front-end and Acueweight system are real, specific engineering choices behind it. Cynergy sits above that for players chasing an all-composite cue built the way Shane Van Boening's own cue is built. Players on AZBilliards describe the Cynergy shaft's pro taper as stiff with strong energy transfer, though some find it "whippy" next to premium low-deflection shafts, so it's worth judging by taper and feel rather than material alone. Cuetec's own reputation rests on two eras of the same idea: the original 1989 fiberglass and graphite-clad cue that started the company, and the newer Cynergy carbon fiber shaft that AZBilliards players compare, favorably or not, to premium maple low-deflection shafts.
Warranty and what to know before you buy
Every cue in this category carries Cuetec's Limited Lifetime Warranty once registered on Cuetec's site within 60 days of purchase, through an authorized dealer, and to the original purchaser only. It covers manufacturing and material defects, including warpage, but not tips, ferrules, bumpers, finish or wrap material, and it's void if the cue has been modified or abused. If you own a Cuetec cue you can no longer resell, Cuetec's separate Sell Through Guarantee lets you return an unchalked, unused, non-shelf-worn current model for credit or a same-value replacement.

AZBilliards threads on the AVID line's glass-composite shaft coating run split: some longtime players are wary because it recalls Cuetec's older fiberglass-coated shafts, while others who've actually hit with a current AVID shaft describe the coating as thinner and slicker than the old finish. On Cynergy, opinion is similarly divided between players who find it plays close to a maple low-deflection shaft and those who find it flexes more than shafts like the Predator Revo.
